What does everyone think about the outcome of this game?

Belfry's line should dominate making it hard for the Bulldogs to get into their offense. I am looking forward to seeing how good Hazards run defense is, and there is no better running team than Belfry in EKY.

As ugly as Belfry pleases.

Belfry will never look dominating in a scrimmage format. Haywood truly uses scrimmages solely for the purpose of finding weakness, gaining younger players confidence, and working on wrinkles that belfry may need down the road. Expect Belfry to use a revolving doors of subs, for Ivan Lee to get much more fewer carries than normal, and for the Pirates to pass the ball considerably more than they would in the regular season.
With Hazard's pension for letting Olinger run, coupled with the fact belfry will probably just run the base 5-2 read the entire time, it wouldn't surprise me for Hazard to outscore Belfry in this one.

Coach Haywood runs his team probably better than any other coach in the state...he is a class act and a true professional.

Can anyone confirm if this game has moved to Belfry?
What time is the game going to be?
When is Hazard's turf/field going to be ready?

From what I'm hearing Hazard's first home game was supposed to be on Sept. 5th but it's going to be played at Leslie Co. Our first home home game on our new turf will be played Black Gold weekend, Sept. 19th against Harlan.

Hopefully both defensive tackles Mikael Campbell and Austin Maggard for Hazard will be in this scrimmage game against Belfry to get them into shape for the start of the season against a very good Green County Team.

I wouldn't risk worsening the injured players injuries, especially against Belfry. The Pirates are very physical and you don't want to have any players injured in a preseason scrimmage, especially players that are already injured.
I like how Hazard scrimmaged top 5 in 2A Prestonsburg, tough 5A Clay County, and a 1-2 team in 3A Belfry.
Those two scrimmages will help the Bulldogs a whole lot, even if a few are injured for the Dawgs. Hazard should come out ready to play against Green County.

Yeah, I agree that would be bad but I do think they should get a few reps in to get them in the shape of things.

The game is for sure at Belfry, I know that for fact.
As for outcome, both teams will work on weakness and get better. That is what scrimmages are about, who scores the most and all of that is meaningless. You will see Belfry run mostly dive plays and passing plays. They wont run a lot of their option offense, maybe just a couple of times. In the first game Ivan had maybe five carries.
Both teams will work on its weakness, because the week after it's for blood.

Gosh I am starting to think no one is ever going to post anything.

Anyone have a update on this game?

The game started with 10 plays offense and 10 plays defense. Belfry looked way better during that session and when the actual scrimmage began Hazard outscored Belfry 2-1, while the varsity was in and then 2-0 on their second string. Ivan Lee had around 7-8 carries for around 30 yards. Hazard's defense looked a lot better and their offense looked better as Olinger ran through Belfry's defense. Dotson also looked good this game, he broke a couple big runs. Both Hazard and Belfry kept their starters in and when Belfry yanked most of their starters out it was 2-1. It was strictly varsity on varsity until then, Belfry looked like they could move the ball easier through the air against Hazard than the run.

Thanks alot too good...about what I expected Belfry to look like in this scrimmage...

Important question... If Belfry had asserted itself, could their o-line have dominated the game?
No, I don't think so. Belfry is big up front but not like they were last year, I mean if they didn't go hard their coaching staff would let them know about it. Both teams played hard, one main reason you could tell was when Hazard started moving the ball at will on Belfry, Ivan Lee began to get mad and was letting his teammates have it. The way I see it, if they werent going hard then they wouldn't have cared what Hazard did to them. They expressed that they obviously were trying to make an effort to stop them...

We will probably never know the real answer to this question HAHA
Hazard fans will say no way, Belfry fans will say yes. The key is to put this scrimmage in comparison to the typical Phillip Haywood scrimmage,
I wasn't even there but can tell you that this is porbably how Belfry looked:
1. Lee only saw a handful of carries and the other carries were spread out between about 4-6 different backs. Lee's carries were probably varied based on a different play each time or a different formation.
2. Belfry probably passed the ball quite often.
3. Belfry ran a base 5-2 defense the entire time with very, very few stunts or blitzes
4. Belfry came out in the Flex Gun at times (Shotgun with wings)
5. Anytime Olinger wanted to scramble he had a wide open field.

Belfry only lost one OL from last season... did the Blackburn and Cisco play in this scrimmage for anyone that was there? I know they missed the last scrimmage as well.
Also that is interesting to hear about Ivan..sounds like he is stepping up and taking more leadership hopeully.
I know that it was just a scrimmage but Hazard didn't blitz at all this game. They ran the ball with Olinger maybe 3 times, and just because Belfry didn't give the ball to Lee every time dosen't mean that they shouldn't kill Hazard. Still... this team has been to the 3A state championship 3 times in the last 5 years. I remember last year when Hazard scrimmaged Belfry, May got the ball around 15 times. How is that any different from the real game? Dotson got around 10 carries and Lee got around 8 not to shabby if you ask me...Olinger ran the ball 3 times for around 40 yards...

May carried the ball maybe 5 times at most last year in that scrimmage....
No it was quite a few, but any way you want to look at it, Belfry running whatever they want, with whoever they desire, should be able to beat any class of a school bad. For hazard to out score them, and Belfry score once (which was a 60 yard pass on a third down)?
