Prestonsburg lead at the half 48-0, come out in the 2nd half and put the JV in and give up two touchdowns and didn't score anymore on a running clock.
Michael Burchett went 4-4 4tds.
Austin Gearheart had 4 tds, 3 receiving and 1 punt return for a td.
Seth Setser had 1 rushing td.
Matt Sword had 1 receiving touchdown.
Congrats Blackcats!

Congrats P-burg. Morgan needs to start finding some answers!

Congrats P-Burg on a great game. Keep your heads up Morgan Co.

Congrats to the Blackcats! Nice gesture to pull the starters. As for Morgan, there are no answers bobcatfan22. They just aren't a football school and never have been. And this is a down year for them as well.
Good luck the remainder of the season to both!

actually, morgan used to have a pretty good football program. They had a qb in the early 80's play for UK.

Actually, Morgan Co. had some pretty good football teams in the 80's. Cougar QB Bill Allen (circa '81-'84) was a candidate for Mr. Football.

Prestonsburg looked very very impressive tonight..even against a much weaker Morgan Co. team. The recognition of the 83 team drew me to the game tonight but i came away VERY surprised with the efficiency of the Prestonsburg offense. Even with Burchett's lone 4 pass attempts he released the ball quickly and he along with the rest of the PBurg offense played EXACTLY how they should in a game such as this. With the week off, I look for Prestonsburg to beat Beechwood by 2 Touchdowns or more... Can not wait for this game... Prestonsburg seems to be on a mission this year and determined to get that elusive state championship ring.... LOVE LOVE LOVE watching this team play....

and btw ...Gearheart is an absolute gem and receiver .. reminds me sooo soo much of Nick Jamerson when I watch him play. He could have easily had 6-7 tds tonight had coach d chosen.

The Morgan high football program is an absolute joke, except for the Middle School 8th grade program which is one of the best in the eastern part of the state. They're undefeated at present and would give the high school team a battle if not beat them. The Cougars seem to try a new coach each year to fix the problem but the main problem is the lack of support by the administration and school board. The facilities at West Liberty are atrocious at best and no one in charge seems to care....and neither do the kids either.
A thumbs up to the P'burg staff for not running up the score. This could have easily been a 100-0 game.

Seems like Prestonsburg is clicking on all cylinders right now.

Prestonsburg is the strongest 2A school this side of the state. I look for them to play in the pizza box.

Prestonsburg will get to measure itself at Beechwood in 2 weeks. I'm thinking it's going to be a darn good game and I won't get to go. I'll be across the country.

You are correct, but that has been over 20 years ago! That's like saying Ashland used to be a basketball powerhouse because of their success pre-1970. But you have to keep it up consistently (not saying every year) enough to continue the tradition. Otherwise your tradition and respect fades away.
Morgan has a awesome middle school team from what I am aware of so they may be able to resurrect their program in a few years if they can keep that bunch on track.

The only reason I made the statement was in reply to your earlier post when you said "They just aren't a football school and never have been".
Never is an awfully long time.

Actually the team was terrible. Bill Allen was a good QB and should have never went to UK. He set the bench his entire career and could have started for several other colleges.
I was actually a little supprised at the game. Morgan didn't look as bad as I thought they might. I know what the score was, but I just think P-burg is that much better than Morgan this year. Morgan actually had some nice atheletes. I don't know that much about them, but if they are a young team I can see them improving over the next couple years.
Good luck to the Cougars!
One week at a time Blackcats!

I wouldn't go that far. The rest of the team was fair, IMO.
The situation of Morgan Co. then was like Leslie Co. (circa Tim Couch) of a few years ago except neither the Cougar team, nor the QB was that good.

I dont think Bill was a candidate for Mr. Football, they didnt start voting on that until 1986. I know Bill and think he was an excellent High School and College QB. He for sure would have been a candidate if they had Mr. Football in 1984.

I'm not doubting you and I'm not going to argue with you. But I was also at the game.
Perhaps we're just speaking from a different perspective...
"Terrible" (your term) to me implies teams like Phelps and S. Floyd. Morgan Co.'s team (without Bill Allen) was definately a notch or two better than that. I didn't say "good", I said "fair".
