5A power beats 1A decent team.

No surprise.

But, nothing to be ashamed of for Paintsville either. Just learn from your mistakes so you're ready for the big games that matter. We all know why this game is played year in and year out, and TBH it's also a character builder for your team.

Good game by both teams with the score about what I expected. The Tigers played a decent game (lots of mistakes but with heart and some hard hits). The Eagles are just a very powerful and fairly quick 5A team. They should do well the remainder of the season. The Eagle line dominated the Tigers and just wore them down, not that it would have mattered, and that was the biggest difference in the game. The Tigers have nothing to be ashamed of and have a great season to continue. Fortunately no major injuries despite some hard hits.

Good luck to both the rest of the way. And yes, the Apple Bowl lives on!! Paintsville has had their share and the Eagles are now having theirs!

Good job by both coaches to not take too many chances with their starters after the game was put away!

Good win for JC's JV.

Comment is classless and out of line, Paintsville is a good 1A school with some very talented kids.

Good game Central. Matney showed some class and called off the dogs (mass subs in the second half and a punt on 4th and 1 inside the 40.) Paintsville played hard and never gave up. Central is just too big and physical for Paintsville (and just about any 1A school)

The Guru Wrote:They were out there, I was standing beside coach M when he sent them in. about the only starter that wasn't in was Dennis. Like I said though, it doesn't really matter now as I am glad this game is behind us without either team losing any players.

He sent bratton and chase in for 3 plays in witch one they scored on. Still had the Freshman and JV O line in.

Look no disrespect but another thing that hurt Paintsville is they thought they could put all 11 kids in the box and that would work. Any coach knows what is going to happen when you do that, and if Central would have passed the ball more in this game the score could have been way worse, not that it could not have been anyway. You know what I trying to say.

Umm...I'll take my chances with Central throwing it 30 times a game instead for rushing it 30 times any day of the week...I'm not saying it would not have worked but we all know what is Central's strength. But you are right, against Paintsville it did not matter.

Believe it or not JC has a very strong passing game.......they just never seem to use it why idk.......but they have it!

I was simply telling Central's second string nice job in the apple bowl because they played 3/4 of the game. Heck I went to go get a popcorn and the starters were no where to be seen. I just thought they subs did a nice job showcasing their talent because they don't get to play 3/4 of most games and they did it in a great atmosphere. So take the comment how you want it because I'm not losing sleep either way. Just for the record everyone is lucky Matney does have class. Nice job both teams and good luck on the rest of the season.

They don't need it yet. Never show all this early you never know who is watching.

Coach Matney has always looked to run first. Thats the system he knows and coaches very well. Central does not have a great passing attack by design. I think it may hurt them in the long run but I am in no position to question the success of their program.

Right......why stop what makes u tick u kno......his offense is mostly focused on the running attack! everyone knows that but so u cant blame him from running it every chance that he can cause thats were the power is!

Johnson Central is a verry strong team this year.
#56
The running game worked for Brugh for years! Why take a chance, when you have a sure thing? I can't remember that one saying about "the run".... something like "run until they make you pass"... or some such!

No your wasn't, you were being a jerk just like the post says!

I agree Tear Drop is out of line. This is 5A power versus a team that was brave enough to step onto the grid and trade licks. I bet if you ask a couple JC players they will tell you they got popped. Stay classy Tear Drop.

I agree with you on that, but the Tigers had little to lose. They knew JC was going to run right at them. I don't think it would have mattered much what kind of D alignment or strategy that Paintsville used. The JC line dominated the game and that is where the game is won and lost.
