Harlan County 58 - Middlesboro 36
#1
yes people you are reading the score right! this was an OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION tonight if you consider these two teams. Harlan co. came out tonight and was ready to play. By far the BEST showing from them I've seen all season!

ps. GILLIAM scored 7 TD's (5 in the first HALF) rushed for 430 some odd yards, i mean this alone is incredible!

GREAT GAME BOYS! YOU SHOWED YOURSELF TONIGHT! KEEP UP THE HARD WORK AND PREPARE FOR NEXT WEEK!

**also, if Dan Mosley's stats were correct he passed the 1,000 yards tonight for his season so far, so congrats to him on that as well!*

I think that is the most dominating performance that I have heard in a LONG TIME! And this was against a good team..Gilliam..Hats off to you and the Black Bears tonight!!!

he set a new mountain record.that was something to see. i'm glad i had a good seat to watch it.:p

Quite a surprising score as I predicted the Yellow Jackets to win this one.

Congrats Bears!
#10
I had some great seats tonight myself. This will give the Bears the momentum they need to beat Estill next week. I think I actaully saw Coach Larkey grin on the sideline tonight. Things are looking good for the Black Bears!!

The good news is that they are actually some younger kids on this team that have the capabilities to beat this record. Sophmore Dylan Smith comes to mind. He played a good game tonight as well. Well, they all did.

Is Blanton gonna play next week?

I agree, and im sure a semi could have ran up them as well because they were huge and i believe Harlan County is getting better as the season comes along so id say your going to be very dangerous around playoff time.

WOW!!! Way to go Black Bears. We all knew you could do it and you did - BIG TIME!!!

Gilliam played an absolutely awesome game; congrats to him. As Mama Bear said, the O-line did a tremendous job creating monsterous holes for him - way to go to you guys as well. Hats off to the defense also. With Gilliam and Company scoring so quickly, the defense was on the field a whole lot of the time, and did a tremendous job. They got to M'boro's QB a lot and put a whole lot of pressure on him all night long. After some adjustments at halftime, the passing defense was better too.

Gilliam had an amazing game, but several other players had great games as well. Congrats to Dylan Smith, Cody Ison, James Phillips, Glen Roberts, Jordan Calton and David Vanover just to name a few. (Cody, we are SOOOOO glad you are back).

Someone sitting by me said she thinks Dylan is part frog or cat...you don't think he is quite close enough to get em, but then BAM, he's pouncing on them, LOL. He is a heck of a player. Wink

thought some people might want to check out the HDE article on this game, http://www.harlandaily.com/articles/2008...186108.txt I've seen 2 or 3 different stats for Gilliam, anyone have the OFFICIAL one?

WYMT had it as 429 on 17 carries, someone on here had 429 on 18 carries, the newspaper had 426 on 19 ... either way he broke the mountain record, is in 8th place in the all-time list for yardage in one game. and 5th (tie) for the most pts in one game!

& like its been said, the O-line was great, defense was great, WAYYYY to many players to try to name that did something special in this game. I think the BEARS are finally hitting their mark and I see them only getting better after this!

(yes Cody, like BlackBearDenMother said we are GLAD to have you back!)

Congrats Harlan.

Way to go bears. Great win!!!! Those Estill coaches that were there last night got their eyes full...of BEARS!!!!!!!!
#25
GREAT JOB BLACK BEARS!!!!! It was an awesome game last night!! I was happy to see them so in sinq. LOL glad they had the white pants on. Those black ones seem to be cursed!!!!!! Good job to all the boys now lets do the same thing next week.

The Black Bears came focused last night. Gilliam showed his skills and last night he seemed to be out there to prove something. He has been impressive all year long, but last night was an explosion. The Black Bear line overpowered on both sides of the ball making huge holes on offense and in there pressuring on defense. Adams could not stay in the pocket and was scrambling most of the night with the Bears on his heals. His running abilities opened up some passing on the scramble and a few lucky strikes in good coverage gave some big plays to M'boro. The Bears did fumble a few and those fumbles did give some life back to the nearly broken backed M'boro. Can't do that in the weeks to come. Proud of the Black Bears, all of them. WAY TO GO BLACK BEARS!!!!
#27
The Adams kid is versatile, but I think that M'boro has got a future big time QB in the freshman and I hope his injury is minor. Middlesboro will be fine and pending the return of their freshman QB, will potentially make some noise in the playoffs. They have had two tough weeks. GOOD JOB BLACK BEARS!!!!!!

It was 426 yards on 19 carries.
The TV got it from the radio which got it from the newspaper during the game.
