Recreational Golf 2009
#1
Since I derailed a Christmas thread talking about golf I decided to start a new one here for everyone to discuss their upcoming golf seasons.

I actually played in shorts on Saturday the 27th of December.Big Grin

Who else is ready for the weather to break so we can hit the links.

What equipment do you use?

What courses do you play? I like to travel and play new courses so I am always interested in this aspect.

What do you usually shoot?

How many rounds do you play per week/month/season?

Lets have fun with this.

I got more into it again last year. I hadn't played much the last few years, but look forward to when it warms up again so I can start back.

In Lexington I like to play cheap courses around the area like Lakeside, SouthWind(Winchester) and sometimes Picadome.

In Pikeville I like to play Raven Rock or Mountain Pub Links at Johns Creek.

I'd like to get around more when I'm out of school and play some more courses around the state.

I use:
Ping G2 Driver
Big Bertha 04 3 & 5 Wood
Maxfli Powermax 3 Iron Hybrid
Big Bertha 04 Irons (4-W, SW)
Taylor Made Rossa Sienna 4 Putter

I'm pretty consistent usually shooting anywhere between a 90-95 Smile

Orlimar Tri Metal 3,5 and 7 woods
Nike Slingshot irons 4-9
Off Brand 56 degree wedge. (Looking for a vokey)
Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Putter.

The wifes rig:

Taylormade R7 ST 5 wood
Taylormade R7 Draw Irons 4-SW
Odyssey three ball SRT putter.

For the last 3-4 four years, I only play 4-5 times per year. I feel guilty spending 4 hours on the golf course with the kids at home, but they're about to the age of taking them with me.Big Grin

I use:
Ping G2 6 iron - LW
Ben Hogan 4 & 5 hybrid
Ping G2 3 & 5 wood
Odyssey 2-ball Putter
Looking for a New Driver

I play:
Mountain Pub Links primarily
Twisted Gun occasionally
Stonecrest occasionally
Raven Rock occasionally

I shoot low 90's to low 100'[s. I do not play enough to be consistent. Some shots I look like a pro and some I look like I have never seen a golf club. I hope the consistency thing changes this summer.

I play very seldom anymore, used to play about 4 times a week before I had to grow up and get a job LOL. I usually go play Allen cause its close, I played Raven rock once this year.

Titliest 907 d1
old trimeatal 3,5 wood
ram fordged Irons 2-p
Minzuno and Clevland wedges
Ram Putter

I usally shoot 1-3 over par at Allen on 9 holes. and high 70's to low 80 anywhere else I play. Played 4 time in Myrtle Beach this year and shot 82 threes times at different courses and shot 75 at Possum Trot the last day we played. Not bad for a fat boy LOL
#6
I play primarily at Estill and Madison Golf Clubs, but do travel quite a bit through summer to play.

I play:

Taylor Made r7 driver
KZG 3 and 7 woods
KZG irons
one of those Scotty Cameron putters that looks like you could receive satellite radio with
also, just added Solus wedges

1 shoot in the 70s

I have the old Orlimar Tri Metal 3,5 and 7 woods in my bag. Love them to death but time to upgrade a bit. Can't decide on the Nike Sasquatch fairway woods or the TaylorMade Burners. My wife has a Burner that I love but I have never hit the Sasquatch.

Is it the Detour or the Phantom Futura?

The old throw back. I love it.

You want to talk about a Putter that could pick up satellite radio. Here is the one my wife plays. Almost as big as a dinner plate but surprisingly light to be so big. My Newport II weighs more.

Love her heart she couldn't sink putts consistantly if the cup was the size of a bushel basket and the greens funneled at 90 degrees to the cup.Big Grin

What kind of information can you give me about these wedges? I need to upgrade my wedges and have been looking at the Nike SV and the Titliest Vokey series.

Suggestions?

Solus produce a lot of spin, more than Vokey. I play forged irons and I like the Solus.

I am going to try and play some this year, I had to quit last summer due to a neck injury which still bugs me but is feeling better.

I use:
Driver: Nike Sumo2
Irons: Titliest AP2 3-GW
3 Wood: Taylormade Burner-by far the best 3 wood I have ever hit
Putter: Odyssey Sabretooth, awesome putter, keeps the head square, and looks wicked
Wedges: I use an assortment of wedges depending on the course Im playing, I use anything from Vokey's 52-64, to some older Clevelands I have, 53, 58,60

Im about an 8 handicap, but it can fluxuate, I can go out and play 9 holes and be under par, and then throw out a 50 on the back 9. Dont get to play enough anymroe to stay consistent.
