This is an embarrassing score for Pikeville.
#5
Chris Ward was on the Mound for SC
#6
ward pitched an awesome game keep the p-ville hitters off balance all night he needs to really step up for this team to compete pitching and on the hill.

Pikeville just doesn't have any dominating pitchers. It's going to require great defense and producing a lot of runs this year.

They should? All I have heard during the off season was how good they were going to be now that Huffman was back? Getting beat by a mediocte Sheldon Clark team is not proving that. I just think it's going to be a really bad year for Pikeville, and I dont think the fans of Pikeville are going to let it go on for too much longer.

congrats sheldon clark

Great job Cardinals.
Hey Batcat, does Ward have the ability to throw a game like this on a regualr basis, or was it a big surprise?

Exactly, I made the drive over to see the game last night as nobody else was playing. I have never seen worse pitch calling in my life. Example SC 8 hitter has just been way late twice and they call off speed pitch which he ran up the middle. As bad, in order to move the RF to the mound, they made a sub, moved 2nd to 1st, and 1st to RF.

I have been around the 15th along time and it may be a waste to spend my gas money and gate fee to watch them play again. Honestly has Pikeville Independant lost all pride in the sports programs over there. I also noticed only about 14 players total, is this a reflection of the coaches or the lack of interest in baseball at Pikeville. I heard that the same problem with numbers is what cost Copley his job in football.

I would say that jetpilot is burning the midnight oil as we speak.

its not a problem of numbers at pikeville its the sad coaching they have and the push of the program to make all the players better instead of just a select few.

The state of affairs is very painful but jetpilot has no pull...:HitWall:
Seriously, Pikeville needs more people like Mr. K to make sure things never get to this point.

What is your recipe for a fix Mr. K?

Well they need to have a set program for developing pitchers from the middle school level and up, and until you have ppl on that level who are on the same page with everybody, and not hiring every alumni under the age of 25 you can find, it is going to be hard. There needs to be a change in order to get things where it needs to be, the chemistry between the coaching staff and the players is not there. I know of 2 to 3 very qualified people who would take this job in a heart beat, but i think everybody knows what has to happen first.

Trust me you have a bunch of people in Pikeville that are passionate about what goes on with the Pikeville baseball program, but have hit that same brick wall you imply of.

This one is a simple one jetpilot. I'll just be point blank blunt about it. Get rid of who you have in there right now first. Next thing is to get that Hall of Fame guy across town who is on temporary assignment, who really wants the job. I can promise you that the entire Pikeville community would rally around and support the guy. That, jetpilot is the instant fix.

That could be an instant winning fix for sure.
