Johnson Central @ Boyle County (Aug 21)
#1
Great matchup between one of the state's most elite programs over the last decade (Boyle County) and one of the state's most prominent risers (JC).

Boyle looks to be one of the Top 5 teams in 4A and JC will be around the Top 5 in 5A.

Who wins and why? Predictions?

Last year, Boyle County barely lost to Bell County and Johnson Central barely lost to Belfry. Since Boyle County barely lost to Bell County (the 4A state champions), I should pick Boyle County. Yet, I'm picking Johnson Central. Last year, everyone was talking about how Johnson Central was going to lose against Breathitt County and Bryan Station, but somehow Johnson Central found ways to win against those good teams. This should be a good game to watch.

Johnson Central - 21
Boyle County - 17

I'm going with Johnson Central in a slim margin.

So, I don't know about a score.

Boyle County will win this game, they will have too many athletes and a scheme that will give JC fits. Also I think the the staff at BC, will find a way to outsmart Matney and Company.
#7
Boyle too good on defense for JC. 17-14.

What kind of scheme does Boyle run? How many starters to Boyle return this season?
#12
AS EKU has mentioned, Boyle County graduated a lot of players and I think that puts them at a slight disadvantage in this game, whereas Johnson Central lost key players, but not so many. I think that the Eagles steal the opening game on the road and leaves Boyle County asking some questions about who they are as a team.

It's going to be close, still yet being played in Danville.

JC - 28
BC - 24

Best of luck to both teams!

Not going to predict a winner ,but I will predict JC will scrore more than two TD's.

Boyle County - 24
Johnson Central - 21

Home field advantage helps Boyle County win. Both teams have good running defenses. It'll be a close and slow game.

Although Boyle County had a darn good team last season, they had been struggling before that and graduated a very talented group of seniors, so I'll give Johnson Central the edge by 1 touchdown. This is a game that Boyle County could easily win though.

Best of luck to both!

JC will win this game as the boyle county will not be able to stop JC powerhouse running game.

JC 42 and Boyle County 17
#17
Boyle lost 12-13 seniors. They return a good group with around 14 starters returning. They will run a 4-4 defense and will be very good up the middle with Dawson playing LB and the Younger Tammne playing DL. The biggest questions they have are the WR/DB postions. Mcshara is a great little back and Billy Goldsmith's boy will step in at QB.
#18
That will be a fun one to watch regardless.

JC 42 and Boyle County 17

As good as it was last year, it may be even better this year.

This may be Matneys best backfield since he has been at Central.

Based on past performance i am giving the slight edge to Boyle. I think this is the game of the week. If they both show up then this game will be a serious battle of wills!!!!!!!!

Shouldn't be surprised a Viking fan would pick Boyle.LOL
HB come to the dark side. Go EAGLES!!!!
#22
I picked JC, but it was a tough decision. If JC can't find a team to scrimmage on the 14th to replace Whitley, I would go with Boyle because of the lack of scrimmage and the game being at Boyle.

For what it's worth, I think JC's going to be better this year than they were last year.
#23
home field is in Boyle's favor so I will say Boyle Co. 20, Johonson Central 13.
#24
I'm gonna go with Central......im not sure how the running game with be his best ever.....he has had some pretty good ground games since he has been there, but if it is better i will say Central will be really good......i dont think they will beat any contender in any class by more than 3 td's.......

JC- 34

there is a big difference between best backfield and best ground game. The difference will be the offensive line. If it is as good as years past This backfield will show very well.
#27
I like Boyle County in this one:

Boyle County-24
Johnson Central-18
#28
JC by 2 TDs. Increased speed in the backfield make up for what we lost on the O-line.

The more I've thought about it, the more I think Boyle County wins this one.

I change my prediction and I'll take Boyle County by 2 touchdowns.

Johnson Central because of their defense if they can stop channing fuggate and the offense the run they can stop boyle.
