Some may be surprised by this...

1)Highlands
2)St. Xavier
3)Trinty (Lou.)
4)Christian County
5)Central (Lou.)

So whats your thoughts on this? Looks like 6A, 5A and 3A may be repeats again, but thats why they play the game.

Honest i dont see how they think central will be top 5. they lost 12 starters, 4 of which went to D 1 schools.

according to them they return enough with patterson,so we will see, they say also that central may be able to beat st.x or trinity this year so theres something to it

Interesting ranks! I say Highlands deserves the hype but could they truly top St.X???????

I just don't think that Highlands is better than both St. X & Trinity. Christian County ranking is reasonable. Not sure about the Central ranking, but they do return some very talented players, most notably Tim Patterson & Stephan Robinson.

Compete - Yes, Win - no.

Though this is one of the best HHS teams in many years (on paper), this is like saying the top DII college team in the nation is as good as the top DI team. Different levels, but both good.

Stardust, while I generally agree with your thinking, there are years when a very good 5A team can beat an X or T. The fact that Highlands beat Trinity in 2000 is tangible proof that it can be done. Now the 2000 Highlands team was exceptionally good. But I believe that this year's Highlands team will also be exceptionally good. Plus this year's Highlands team will have more depth than any Highlands team than I've ever observed, which is absolutely critical when playing big teams like X and T. I'm not guaranteeing that Highlands would win; but I don't think one can guarantee that Highlands couldn't beat them in a match up like you seem to be doing.

There is a much greater difference between DI and DII college football than there is between 6A and 5A high school football. DI programs have many advantages over DII college football. Scholarship numbers, recruiting dollars to find the best players in the country, and the ability of recruits to choose where they go. That's not present (at least to the same degree) in high school football.

This statement falls directly into what T & X do, thus I don't think that HHS can compare. Your point is well taken, there are years, just like there are years that a DII just might beat a DI team (Appalacian St), but not consistently. 2000 you have to admit is the exception not the rule, just as this years team will be. X & T will be at that level every year.

X and T don't do that. Stop. They don't give free tuition or scholarships to every athlete in the state that they would like to see play for them. There is a limit of 25% merit aid and the amount of financial aid is determined by a non affiliated third party. Huge difference between what colleges do and X and T do.
