Shelby Valley looked pretty good. Pike Central on the otherhand.......not so much. Their defense was decent but that spread offense was garbage. It is not designed for the type of athletes we have around here. I believe they would be much more successfull if they just lined up and pounded the ball on the ground like everyother team around here does.

Shelby Valley made a lot of mistake, but still made the plays they had to.
Congrats Wildcats, and Dillion Hughes for MVP

Shelby Valleys D is very impressive, besides the QB keeper, they didnt really give up another big play the entire game.
does anyone have stats.

Central looked impressive on there 3rd or 4th drive...When ever it was they caught the 55 yd bomb in the 1st half. They also looked good at the beginning of the 2nd half. Later on in the game they started too run it more. I didnt really understand that. But neither the less congrats Valley on a hard earned win. 5 PCBs in a row..am I right??

Good win valley. Only things is back when i play Valley always play tougher team like Harrisburg or Paris. These days the are playing either Pike Central or East Ridge is seem like. I think that if the paly tougher teams they can improve there gameplay for the playoff games

Shelby Valley looked pretty good. They have a lot of playmakers in the backfield. Don't think they should try to pass because the ball was up for grabs everytime it was thrown and Varney was picked off once that I recall. Pike Central on the other hand has playmakers, but like someone said above, they need to change up the offense. The spread just is not their thing. McGuire had to run for his life the entire game it seemed. If they ran the veer they'd be tough to stop. JMO
Congrats Wildcats!
Congrats Wildcats!

Dillon Hughes had a huge game, Tremendous athlete.

Never expected this...Great job for SV capitalizing on turn overs, they scored on every turn over good win for you guys....The Hawks, well I'm supprised on how they played, I knew there linbackers were weak, figured they would have played smarter upfront...The offense is probably the biggest down fall for me with all the talent and experience they have....Hawks GET FOCUSED ON THE TASK AT HAND....Good luck SV on the remainder of season....:HitWall:

did you see the first half? The spread works nicely when you actually pass the ball. Especially when it was their means for moving the ball the first half then you go to a strictly HB Draw and QB Draw type offense doesnt make sense to me. Sad thing is the fans and parents are already getting upset at Pike Central. This could get UGLY SOON...

Gz to both teams, it was a fun game to watch.
Dillion Hughes and Cody Varney looked impressive last night, If valley wants to have a good season i'd jump on the back of them 2 boys cause they are what will make the season.
Best of luck next week to both teams.

No, I did not see the first half. Got their at halftime, but if they where successful with the pass then why not try to use it in the 2nd half? Pike Central has talent to be competitive. Thought they looked more athletic than Shelby Valley, but SV just executed their plays and wore down the PC defense with long drives.

Good win for the Wildcats.

What? The linebackers are weak for PCC? If you didnt notice 1 of the linebackers DEBOARD got a good 15 or 20 tackles.... Heard that name all night tackling. Pick up your heads HAWKS and work on that offense before the next game. Great game even if you did take the loss..... GOOOOOOOO HAWKSSSSSSSSS!!!!! GET READY FOR THE NEXT ONE GUYS

yeah thats what I figured no affense...
When they passes the ball it looked similar to how P-Burg looked against Belfry but i mean not as good. Then the running game looked exactly like P-Burg couldnt get anything going hardly.Diffrence was Derocett played it conservative but still got big plays when he needed them. Chapman after a couple of good drives passing, resorted to nothing but Trips left HB Draw, Trips Right QB Draw, last 2 drives is what killed me your down one of them by 7 and one by 15, HB Draw, QB Draw, HB draw, WHY????????? Early in the game you hit a 55 yard bomb they have man on man coverage in the flats with one safety you clearly have more athletes run some buble screen something please keep the dang D off balance in that spread woul dhave been better off to have ran it from under center. No excuse at all for that type of play calling. Sorry to be so blunt but I question is offensive play calling,

really because last time I checked we was getting blown up in the second level ALL NIGHT LONG 15 yards here 30 here 10 here...Sure it starts with the D Line but also is the LBs not reading and filling the A, B and C gaps,

Agreed!!!
The reason Valley Will do so good this year is because they Pound the ball play by play getting 5+ yards a carry just like they did against the Hawks, Rather they get 5 yards a carry or 30 yards a carry, they are wearing down the defense and making them tired by pounding the football down their throats, and as shown in the game yesterday, 5+ yards a carry will win a football game. But Great game i thought, just the better team and better conditioned team came out on top. Good luck for the rest of your scheldule Shelby Valley.

Good win for Shelby Valley.
I did think new coach Jeff Norman made some odd decisions early in the second half that almost let Central back in the game. The (fake) field goal on fourth and 3 at the 18 made no sense at all. SV had been gaining 5+ yards on most of their runs all night long, why not run the ball and hopefully pick up the first down? Worse case scenario you turn it over on downs deep in the Hawks' own territory. Instead, the misplay gives Central the ball on the 40 and a short field to work with, and before you know it, it's 20-13.
Then, after SV methodically marches down the field on the shoulders of the running game, they inexplicably throw it up for grabs on 1st and goal from the 8, and it gets picked off. Again, the ground game was working so well, why mess with success? The INT gave PC the ball, not to mention all the momentum, with the chance to tie a game that should've already been in the bag. Just some odd play-calling, but the SV defense really stepped it up after that and shut down the Hawk offense the rest of the way.
Anyway, good game to the Cats and Hawks, and good luck to both next week!

Good win for Shelby Valley and the new coach. I agree it was some strange play calling. BJ Roberts played a great game on offence and defence. He did not get enough touches. The O-Line needs a lot of work for Shelby Valley. Cody Varney was running for his life most of the night when he was trying to pass. If the blocking improves with the athletes they have, Valley could go a long way.

I actually think that the intent was to kick a field goal. This was not a fake, it was a case of a bad snap. They have experienced trouble getting that snap right. If this had been a fake then someone besides our normal kicker would have been in there to kick (such as BJ Roberts, who did the kicking last year). We had our "soccer player" kicker in there, who actually can hit that field goal if the snap is right and he has decent coverage.
The other observation of the INT, I completely agree with you; it was simply a bad play call. But, overall, the play calling for the game was good for SV. I loved how they went from the bone to a spread offense, and then back. By the time they went back to the bone in the second half, you could tell that the defensive unit of PCC was wearing down.

Roberts needs to have the ball a lot!
