Who are some of the hottest teams in the mountains? also Why are these teams making much noise at the start of this young season.

I will have to be biased on this...
Bell Co coming off a 15-0 State Championship season. 2-0 in state and only loss from a Top 4 team in all classes in Tennessee this season.
Bell Co lost 13 seniors but looks to reload yet again this year. The addition of RB Dominic Carton just made Bell Co the most dangerous team in the Mountains with a backfield of Davenport, Carton, and Hilton.

I agree Bell County is on the rise. So Bell County Bobcat who else do you think is a pretty hot team right now? I want to hear some opinions before i give mine.

I think at this point you would have to say Bell Co, Prestonsburg, Letcher Co Central, Corbin, Somerset, Whitley Co and Shelby Valley at this point of the season so far.

I would take valley off that list they haven't beat any solid teams to prove how they are this year.
Pburg, LC, LCC Somerset Corbin, Bell are just some to name

Bell might be 2-0 right now. After this week Whitley Co this week. They will be 2-1 in the state.

Whitley Co.- they might be 2-1, but they play a tuff Lex Cath team close.
Corbin- they always have a good team, and play a hard season.
LCC- They look again Hazard this firday night.
P-burg - There isn't to many teams that can be 3-0 with 28 players. with some of the teams they play.
Bell- One of the best teams in the Mountains.
Hazard- They got beat this week, with all the player that they last from last years. They still look like they can make a run in 1A again this year.
Corbin- they always have a good team, and play a hard season.

Whitley Co is 1-1. A win against Lynn Camp and a loss to Lexington Cath.

The hottest team in the mountains has to be Pburg without and doubt. They beat Belfrey and Breathitt.

I think that anyone who don't think that Shelby Valley is a contender has lost their mind!

When you consider last season and contrast it to this season, there is no question Lawrence County is the hottest team,

If the cougars of Letcher Central pulls off a W Friday, you have to say they would be just as hot of a team. Especially next week they have a bye, and then we play PCC.

My Priorities are:
1)God
2)Family
3)Cougar Athletics!
Everything else doesn't matter!

What about North Laurel?
09-08-2009, 01:13 PM
I dont really consider North Laurel a mountain team, how does everyone else feel?
I will stick with mine
Prestonsburg because of who they have beaten
Bell-losing that first tough game and then beating Jc like that.
Lawrence-no question they are one of the hottest right now, Sheldon Clark isnt any powder puff team just ask Breathitt County?
But overall, comparing this season to last,Lawrence may be the hottest out of those 3

No doubt about that.
You could also throw North Laurel on there as well.

I also have to say Lawrence Co. There has been plenty of talk that LC may be pretty good this year, but I don't think anyone really expected them to knock off Sheldon Clark. For a team that lost every game they played in last year, and to be undefeated so far this season against the competition they have played, there is no question they are the hottest team in the mountains.

Sorry but North Laurel is in there. Do you consider Rockcastle in the mountains?
09-08-2009, 01:47 PM
No not really Rockcastle is down south of lexington on 75 so no i do not, i would say from ashland to pikeville is in the mountains. and over to knott county

What are we considered to be in Bell County? We're not a mountain team?

Go Bell Co

This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. According to this, Ashland is a mountain team while Letcher Central and Harlan County are not. Somebody needs a geography lesson as I have seen no mountains in Ashland and Letcher County and Harlan County have the two largest mountains in the state. Ashland is an Eastern Kentucky team, not a mountain team. Bell County is definitely a mountain team. Letcher County Central is located on the side of Pine Mountain, the second largest mountain in the state.

Here are the counties I think are considered "Mountain".
09-08-2009, 02:27 PM
I agree. That makes more sense.
09-08-2009, 02:35 PM
You have to throw Sheldon Clark in there if they win this week!
