Jason Stinson Found Not Guilty
#1
It took a jury a little over an hour to return a not guilty verdict for a Louisville high school football coach. Finding Jason Stinson not guilty of reckless homicide and wanton endangerment.

The charges stem from the Aug. 20, 2008, collapse of sophomore
offensive lineman Max Gilpin, at the end of practice. Gilpin died
three days later at a Louisville hospital.

In closing arguments, prosecutor Jon Heck said Stinson crossed
the line from a rough practice to abuse when he told players they
would run until someone quit.

Defense attorney Alex Dathorne said prosecutors failed to show
that anything Stinson did caused Gilpin's heat stroke and that
there were other likely causes for the heat illness.

Still a terrible circumstance that can be learned from. Wish Mr. Stinson the best, and hope this will not mark him for life. I also hope that this helps players as far as coaches not making appropriate beverages\breaks available. Sad circumstance even though the coach was found not guilty because the young man died.

Although it is terrible that this young man died and I can't imagine ever losing one of my kids I hate that this coach was made out to be responsible in any way. Unfortunatly even though he was found not guilty this will follow him for life. It in no way as a sole event means he should not coach again.

The right decision was made. He made some errors as a coach but we have coaches in the mountains who do the same thing he did. He just had tragic consequences.

I am glad they have come to a resolution, rest assured there will never be a resolution for these parents. Unfortnately, this young man was very ill the day of the practice and didn't want to go to school. That to will live forever with decision to make him go to school that particular day. This will forever be replayed in the hearts and mind of these parents. This coaches life has forever changed and I do hope that he to can move forward. I wish them all well in a no win situation.

Great to hear that Coach Stinson was found not guilty. I've heard nothing about him except that he is a top notch guy.

The system finally made a right decision. I feel that he should be able to coach again as well. I ask myself what is he thinking though!

Did you not hear all the testimony of people under oath, not everything about this guy is top notch.
A top notch guy does not treat kids the way this man did/does. Hopefully he has learned something from this terrible event and will show more respect to kids. His kids (his football players) stated under oath how he treated them and just because he was the adult, does not give him the right to disrespect them. I agree he should not be charged with homicide, but I also feel our kids deserve better coaches than guys like Stinson. This guy should never coach agian and I can not believe any school would be dumb enough to hire this guy agian. Hopefully the other high school coaches out there like this guy (guys who get a big head because they are a coach and think they are more important in the community than they really are) have been taught something by this case. I expect my kids coaches to teach them to be great athletes, but also to respect them and teach them to be upstanding humanbeings

This sad for both families that are involved. This will never be forgotten by both of them. I wish Coach Stinson the best of luck.
