He did not play tonight.

No Skyles didnt play and Matt Slone saw very limited action due to an illness. Fairland only scored one touchdown on Sc's first team. The rest of the scoring came on the JV and third string.

matt slone didnt even play a whole half and had 3 tds! great performance by him and the rest of his team. also thanks for proving me wrong and coming out ready to play!
also have to give props to cody slone he made some great catches today. it didnt matter if the pass was to low or too high he came down with it!
i think a part of this team that alot of people overlook is the great hands of just about all of the receivers. i might be wrong but the only drop i remember is when the bertling kid droped one in the endzone. other than that if the pass was close to the receivers they was bringing it in!
nice win cards!!

Congrats to the Cards

I was wrong about the Sheldon Clark, Ashland, and Belfry games. Glad the Cardinals got the win. That lets me know that Lawrence County will destroy Tolsia this year. Good game Cardinals. Keep it rolling. You have Belfry coming up and that will be a big matchup.

Congrats to the Cards after three tough games they finally got an easy game which they needed. Stepp threw the ball really well and Cody Slone I think had over 100 yards receiving and scored his first career touchdown. Hats off to coach Hager and for the third straight great fan support. Can't wait till P'Burg
I was extremely impressed with SC's freshmen that got into the game last night. They played very well; a few names: Tyler O'Connor, Chase Lafferty, and Jarred Stevens. If I have missed others, I apologize. Obviously this bodes well for the future SC teams. Also, SC has some tremendous sophomores that we will be seeing in action the remainder of this year and two additional years to come. Three that instantly come to mind are: Taylor Chapman, BJ Jarrell, and Kristian Skyles. Again, if I have missed any, maybe someone else can mention them on this thread.
Oh, before I close, I would like to praise the linemen; they do not get the publicity that they deserve, but we appreciate your superb effort each and every game. Those that has been mentioned above couldn't do what they do if the line does not perform. Keep up the good work!
SC, be well prepared for next weeks game against the Black Cats.

I would like to point out that although BJ Jarrell is a Sophomore, he held back in the 8th grade which means he only has one more year of eligibility. He also went to Lawrence County up until halfway through his 8th grade year.

No that's not how it works he has all of his eligibility left hold backs are a common thing if you are a hold back you still have 4 years of High school sports.
09-19-2009, 03:29 PM
Trust me when I say you can't hold back in the 8th grade and be eligible for 4 years of high school sports. You can if you hold back 6th grade or before, but 7th and after takes a year of eligibility away. I will find a link for you to the rule if I can find it.

BJ Jarrell was held back after completing the eight grade. The KHSAA Eligibility Rules, Bylaw 4, states:
He was promoted from 8 to 9 and then held back, so he did 8th grade again. Therefore, his 4 ears of eligibility started AFTER his FIRST 8th grade year, so he only has one more year of eligibility.
Quote:Students promoted from grade eight (8) to grade nine (9) shall have four (4)
consecutive calendar years of eligibility from the date of first such promotion by the
school provided the student is eligible according to this and all other Association
bylaws. Such eligibility shall conclude with the completion of the spring sports season
following the fourth year.

Of course not, but he doesn't. Why would I want to put something like this out there about one of my own if it was not very widely known?
If BJ was playing for LC someone from somewhere else would have brought up the subject.

OK lets get back on subject Sheldon Clark and Fairland. If we have something not directly related to the subject of this thread start a new one or save it for another day.

that is not the case we have a ton of players on this team that stayed back in the 8th grade as does many other teams all across the state. He held himself back in the 8th grade and did not set foot into a high school anywhere till last year he has 4 years eligibility left i promise you... all you LC fans want to do is get things stirred up and its getting old quick your having a good year that's great but remember it doesn't always happen as you guys know winning one game in 2 years or whatever. just stick to the dag'on topic of the thread
