Ok
1. What D1 program did you play for?
2. They are going to be fine. Losing Jordan Hansel might be as big or bigger of a loss than Miles though honestly. If they can get the line to continue playing well the offense is in good shape. Sage Powell will step in and be one of the top backs in NKY next year and Chad Lawrence will be one of the top QB's.

HA HA HA wildcat and canudigit must be related. Face it boys SK has a program now. We can debate all day. Thew great thing about this country is the freedom of speech. You can say what you want. SK can and will do it with or without Miles or Hansel. Both great players but once again just two people from a seventy five player team. Yes Miles makes some great plays but next year we have Baldwin, Powell, Pinkelton (sophmore will here alot about), Carrol, Winkler and Welte. All be be big play makers for the offense. Alot of the O and D will be returning and the one that graduate all ready have replacements ready to go. If you feel insulted to bad. canudigit you are the most childish of all. But thats what I expected from Ft. Thomas.

So we're related because we have the same opinion? Very original. Don't sit here and act like SK would be the same team without their two best players in Simpson and Hansel. Sure they'd still win some ball games, but how can you say they'd be the same without their two best players who are both two D1 recruits? Get real dude. Nobody has said SK doesn't have a program and in fact I've stated they were impressive this past week. Coach Marksberry has improved SK by leaps and bounds since I was in high school. I can remember when they suffered several losing season in a row, including a (I believe) 1-9 season.
As far as your comment about expecting something since he's from Ft. Thomas, how can you call someone childish and then make a comment like that? Grow up kid.

Simon who? Don't they play basketball?

From Kywildcat,"And if you don't think Conner and Ryle are good enough to knock SK off, you obviously are missing something. Conner will pass all over Sk and Ryle will run all over SK. Mark it down and you can quote me on that if you want. SK will finish 3rd in the district behind Ryle and Conner."
I just found this and thought I would do just as you said and quote you on it. Looks like you get to eat crow also along with canudigit. The only difference is he was man enough to admit it and I doubt you are.

Anyone who has followed this game for a while has seen jokers like you before. One successful season on the shoulders of a great player and a handful of good ones and suddenly you've arrived full of spit and tradition. Simon Kenton isn't some Johnny-Come-Lately to the NKY 6A wars. They have a tradition deeply rooted in mediocrity, which is largely what I base my opinions on. They're riding a decent wave at the moment, but they'll have to catch another one soon, and past history shows they'll likely get distracted and build sand castles until the next generation spawns another Miles Simpson-esque player.
Beat Ryle. Schedule Highlands and Trinity and show them up. THEN we'll talk.:dontthink

lol well played. I love when people say "quote me on this". It almost always makes them look ridiculous and it is almost always the people who don't know what they're talking about.
Anyone who denies that SK has built a program worth being impressed over is incredibly unintelligent as far as sports go. Miles Simpson, of course, has brought notoriety to the program, but there is more to it than that. One kid doesn't make a team, there is much much more to it.
I will be looking forward to the Ryle and SK game though, I think it will be a good one with Ryle coming out on top.

I have a question, what is Marksberry's record prior to Simpson/Hansel? Seriously, the Pioneers are riding the wave right now and got owned in the state finals last season. I still think Ryle takes down the Pioneers for the District crown. I didnt expect Conner to laydown and let SK run off 56 straight but credit the Pioneers for beating a very good Cougar team.
I dont think SK has the defense to stop Ryle, it will probably be a shootout at he OK CORRAL but IMO Ryle advances further this season.

kywldcat01 Wrote:I'll also admit I was wrong. Having seen Conner, I thought their offense was the most diverse and tough to defend in nky 6a this year...looks like I was way off base as SK absolutely took the Cougars behind the woodshed.
They still have to prove themselves against Ryle, as I think they are the best team in nky 6A this year, but I think there may be another surprise...don't count out Boone Co. They played a tough early season schedule but after seeing them first hand against Campbell CO last night, Boone is better than we all thought.
6A should be fun to watch the rest of the year. Good luck to both teams.

Hmm...you may want to do a little more research there bud...look at my above quoted post. I did admit I was wrong and gave SK their proper due.
Let's take a look at SK's records since 2000 (Marksberry's first year) and you'll see why there are doubters in the area:
2000: 6-4 (Didn't make playoffs)
2001: 5-6 (1st rd playoffs: L 60-0 to Trinity)
2002: 3-7 (Didn't make playoffs)
2003: 1-9 (Didn't make playoffs)
2004: 2-8 (Didn't make playoffs)
2005: 6-5 (1st rd playoffs: L 52-0 to Trinity)
2006: 6-4 (Didn't make playoffs)
2007: 6-5 (1st rd playoffs: L 44-27 to Ryle)
2008: 10-5 (State Championship: L 48-0 to Trinity)
2009: 4-1 (??????)
To answer Qryche's question Marksberry and SK were 23-39 prior to Miles Simpson's freshman year. From Simpson's freshman to current senior year, the Pioneers are 26-15. Outside of last year and possibly this year, when has SK been more than a mediocre program? Simpson has made a bigger difference than you may want to admit. Can you honestly say they would have made the state championship last year without him and they'd be sitting pretty at 4-1 this year?
Don't think I'm trying to down the SK program, school, or players. I have very close friends who have been associated with SK for a very long time (Rockenstein family, in particular) and have a younger cousin that is on the current frosh team. (Jarred Swanson) I'm just trying to point out that SK needs to consistently be good to proclaim themselves as one of the area's premier football programs. Don't take what I say to heart.

Never once did I say they were a premier team. I simply stated that they have a good program going now. It again can not be credited to just one or two players. hansel in my opinion is not that great just big. Miles is great but we also have other play makers at the junior and sophmore level as well as the freshman level. As far as Rockenstein goes if your were that good of friends you would have known that he has not been involved with the program since the 2007 season. He is a great man and also an aquintance of mine personally and professionally.

Also meant to say if you look at the record you will see the winning seasons started prior to Simsons freshman year and continued during his freshman year. He did not go up to varsity till over half way through the freshman year and Hansel actually sat out the whole 2007 season due to knee injury and surgery. this is a program that he has been building and working with. You can not sit and say just because he did not start right from the beggining winning that he really has only done it with two players. Come on.
