well BELRFYS run to the semis is over at 6 straight years,after they bow out in the 2nd round this year,been a great run and feel there will be another one coming,get ready for next year now....... Tongue

Didn't Mayfield go to the Semi-Finals every year from like '85 to '03 or something?

Yes it was a great run on Pond Creek, sad to see it end. IMO this year was a very good year. Low expectations turned into a lot of excitement after watching this team play. Granted the majority of fans knew this team was far from exceptional and an early exit from the playoffs was imminent. Teams had better take their licks at the Pirates this year and next because they will definately not be witnessing the Pirates teams of the past. BUT the future is bright, the younger classes are pretty stellar and with a talented bunch of 8th graders the Pirates will make their run again in a few year.

Maybe but I would say it will be more like 2011. We have a very talented bunch of sophomores that will be seniors then and if the current 8th graders continue to improve the 2011 Pirates could be real scary. An abundance of size with a a few really really fast skilled positions could very well lead the Pirates back to the promise land.

2 different coaches led Mayfield from 1980 to 96 and only 3 presently. Jack Morris led Mayfield until he retired after 24 years and 254 wins (10.58 wins a year) in the early 90's then his assistant Paul Leahy coach 5 years and retired then Jack Morris son Joe Morris got the job and is still the head coach today.
