I do not see Hampton playing at all. He has alot riding on basketball. He is a major contributor this year as a junior and will be looked at seriously next year for some scholarships. I don't see him giving up the summer basketball season or risking his future on a football injury.
Hampton will need to get get stronger (not saying he isn't), quicker and football would help him with that. Maybe Hampton will go out and be an all around stand out full back. You never know what could happen. After seeing the GC basketball game against Ashland, I figured out that Linthicum could be a big threat on the football field. He was quick feet, hes fast, can jump and go get the ball. Troxler wont last on the football field. He cant control himself and he only wants his way. Its a waste of talent. Lyle will be great this year and will be a huge impact for GC. If Marsh hits the weights hard and get a little quicker then GC could be a pretty good football team next year. It'll take time though.

Mr. Hampton lacks the height to play college basketball.IMO He body is better suited to play football, not that he isn't good high school basketball playa. Hampton better learn to face the basket and not his back to basket for college. I hope the best for him. If he gets a scholarship I hope it is at Shawnee State.

Yes, people continue to forget that both Russell and Raceland are part of Greenup County!!!

Greenup County's issue is with the parents.Until the parents stop accepting that their kids are average and start pushing them to be above average and not accepting anything less than their best effort at everything they do,nothing will change.Granted this doesn't include all parents but about 90% of them. The acidemics are at Greenup if you want to work for them, just as they are at the other area schools. Instead parents don't want to push their kids to work for their accomplishments, they want to blame the school for having poor acidemics, and not the kids work ethic. This goes for sports acidemics and life, you get out of something what you are willing to put into it.I hope this will change for the kids sake and as always I wish Greenup County the best in all of their endeavors.GO MUSKETEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So who and more importantly who is NOT showing up for weightlifting? I heard only a core group of 12-15 players were lifting...

That is not good for a school who is claiming to turn it around next year. I was predicting GC to beat Russell next year but if they're not lifting, Russell will just outmuscle GC on way to victory, and you can bet your last buck that nearly every football player at Russell has been lifting.

Russell has had terrible numbers in the weightroom the last few years and has had nobody pushing them when they do show up. It has showed on the field the last few years also. I can bet what 12 or 13 they are at GC and with Copley demanding perfection in the weight room those boys are going to be animals next season. Last I heard it only takes 11 to have a football team. Fact is the boys who are working out were your starters from last year, they will be your leaders and the starters and will lead GC to a great season this year behind strenth and dedication.

Wonder why it is that every GC football thread morphs into a comparison with either Russell or Raceland? Comical really.

They need to stop giving coach copley their "wood".

Well.....They are not our biggest. I used to think it was Russell......but, I think LCA has taken over the top spot in RAM LAND.

Unless one gets hurt then you only have 10.....and you have to forfiet becaused you peed all your 8th graders off by playing 7th graders in the 8th grade games. Football is a numbers game KOSAR. Being from GC you should know your times and gazinta's. You have to be able to cypher Kosar.

RAM-A-DEVIL, you're the one that needs to get a clue. You're just jealous because all of those athletes from Greenup that transferred to Raceland, transferred back to GC(ie Jett Troxler, Mason Rister, etc.). You know that GC is going to run Raceland into the ground, and you are just trying to hide what you know is the inevitable.

So, Name Us Some Good Players That Russell Will Be Returning Next year, Please?
01-02-2010, 09:59 PM
This group of SR's has crushed Raceland every year since 3rd grade, I dont see anything changing and neither does Ramadevil. Keep ragging on me, you and I both know that it will be a long time until Copley has to worry about getting beat by the Rams.

Now he will say he is glad Rister, Troxler and Kitchen are back at GC and that they were a team cancer, blah blah blah.
