2010 could be another great year for the Cards but losing the likes of Cody Slone, Matt Slone, Ian Bertling , Brad Stafford, Dustin Burchett and others will be hard to replace. Ray, Skyles and O'Connor should be the primary ballcarries along withn B J Jarrell. Hager is a top notch coach so if the kids devote themselves to the weight room and dedicating themselves to get better then 2010 should be another great year. Can't ewait until July 15

Yes, SC has lost some very good players but 2010 is another season, and I expect SC to do very well this coming year. The important thing now, is looking forward, for every team has lost their seniors. That is a unavoidable fact!
SC has some extremely talented players returning and as I stated in the previous paragraph, I expect them to do well in 2010. I know for a fact that one returnee is starting his off-season workout program this week, and I am sure there are many others that will do the same. I would hope that the whole team would follow suite, and I believe that coach Hager will encourage the process.
If the foregoing occurs, I think we can look forward to a great 2010 football season for Sheldon Clark. Obviously time will tell. Forecasting the future can be tricky in any aspect of life. So I'll close with -- Good Luck Cards, we're behind you!

First, Congratulations on an above average 2009 season!
I would have to think you will do very well in 2010. Obviously the excessive number of turnovers must be drastically reduced, or it will cause you to beat yourselves, e.g., the Somerset game.
If you decide to work extremely hard in the off season, you will increase your chances for success dramatically.
SC, you have a tremendous amount of talent, some very good backs are retuning, and, let us not forget the linemen, for without them the backs go nowhere.

A Ray #5,
I've heard from what I consider a reliable source that many of the guys that are returning from last year are already working hard preparing for 2010. Is my source correct? or are they just overly optimistic?

Yes this source is true. There are many returners that only play one sport so Hager wants us in the weightroom hard if we are not playing another sport. But after the start of the year he wants everyone to start working out.
I feel great about then2010 season already :] should be fun.

OSUfan, I was reading some of the older posts and wondered how I missed this one but I did. However, I certainly was glad to get information on the line for 2010, for as we all know, a good, strong line is essential for the backs to do their job. Unfortunately the line does not get the recognition that they should.
Linemen, you are extremely important; so work hard off-season and show the skeptics that SC is going to do very well in 2010.

Yes, Lanser, Amer., I wholeheartedly agree that the line is extremely important and I like to see credit given them for a job well done. We all know that the most talented backs need good, strong linemen to pave the way.
SC, imho, has a group of talented backs returning for 2010 and barring injuries, I think they will do extremely well.

I would like some input from some of the knowledgeable SC players, fans, etc. I count myself as a tyro; I saw some of the games last season and was wondering how the backfield would stack-up in 2010.
I had a question regarding Kristian Skyles; I know he missed quite a few games and played limited time in others. I also felt he should have gotten a few more carries in the last two games. But I also realize that he was out long enough to have possibly lost his edge. I am definitely not second guessing the coach; it is simply a question.
I have reviewed the clips from WYMT Sports Overtime and Skyles looked good.
Is he going to be a force in 2010? Maybe there's something that I am missing.

him and a ray will get most of the carries for sc next year imo.
His got to keep working hard and not let a injury bring him down because when he was out hurt all the other backs were out there on the field getting better and getting reps. remember he didnt get to play much his frshman year and this past year he has been hurt alot and didnt get to play much. practice during the season and game reps is something you cant afford to miss.

The line will determine how well Skyles and the other backs perform. But ,I asked the same question Landser,Amer. and learned Skyles was injured in week 3 (broken bone in foot) and played in the Prestonsburg game two weeks later and recorded 8 tackles then was sidelined by Dr. He was released the night before 1st round of playoffs(Russell),played a series or two on defense. Started on defense the next week against Belfry, and the next week regionals started on offense in the second half (12 rushes,88yds,2tds) . State semifinals (10 rushes,92 yds,1td). We watched film on Skyles and have followed him since Ultimate 100 combine in Indy, very good running back.

your right the line will dertermine how good the running game will be because the running backs will be there waiting for a hole. i just dont understand how a line can be good enough to control a game with the running game and not in the shot gun. i mean this past year the line was a big reason sc could run and control the clock so well. why isnt the line performing in the shot gun formations? Or are they?

We will be very good again next year! There are some very capable freshman and sophomores to fill some big holes!

2010 looks to be an exciting year for the Cards! I would have to think that they will have a successful year. Let us look forward, not backward, for 2010 is what is significant and what we're going to be into in a few months.
I have heard from, what I think is, a reliable source that the guys are working diligently in the off-season, preparing for a successful 2010 season. But, folks, the weight-room is not everything. Speed, agility, and the desire to be a winner is extremely important. And, do not forget, the belief that "you" can do it. If someone else tells you that you can't, that's their opinion, and you know the story about opinion, everyone has one. But believing that you can is in your heart, a core belief. That's what truly counts.
SC should field a solid backfield; I am not sure how it will jell, come August, but I think it may be a little different from what the conventional wisdom is. We shall see!
One more thing, BACKS, boost your linemen; they are essential to your success, or lack thereof. We as fans, unfortunately do not give the line their fair share of credit. SC has a very good contingent of returnees and some freshmen and sophomores that can step-up.
I would like to see the linemen mentioned more often in commentary, both verbal and in the written word.
Well, I've talked long enough. Good luck coach Hager and the 2010 team! Oh, luck is when opportunities runs into preparation. However, luck always plays a part. I know this sounds like a blatant contradiction, but give it some serious thought.

well everytime the qb gets sacked everybody thinks its your fault and not the qbs so those monster tackles and the returning line better step it up and protect in shot gun formation or you will never get no credit cause you know its not going to be the qb's fault!!

it is the lines fault sometimes but half of the line last year hasnt been linemen besides in youth league. they were runnin backs or full backs. and we all know what were doing more now from the line to the running backs to the QB. most of the starters have started sence there 10th grade year and if not then they have still been playing a while. i have faith in our QB he will do fine next year and im sure ready to see KP, avery, and mickey moore run and catch the ball. but we dont know anything for sure until that time comes.

you hit it right on the mark sometimes not all the time and that is correct. glad you know its not your fault all the time.. good luck next year and have a injury free off season.. and stay away from the juice its bad for you!! you dont need nothing but hard work to be a monster!!
if you feel down drink the monster it will give you the energy you need hahahah
