Will the Democrats call this guy Racist?

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP2p91dvm6M"]YouTube- Congressional Candidate Lieutenant Colonel Allen West[/ame]

He's not a racist... but he's why I'm glad the "bunch of farmers" understood the difference between Constitutional democracy and "raise hands: ok, majority wins." The first is a safeguard of human liberty; the second is a threat to it anytime, anywhere. By the way, since Obama took office, what freedom has been taken away? What is it that you once did and can do no longer? In what ways, tangible and direct, has your life changed, become less free, since Bush left office?

But he's a republican running for congress he must be racist. So far Obama has not really cost me any freedom. Thanks to that balance of power, cap and trade may be dead so I may still be able to earn a living in the coal fields of East Kentucky.

But with Obama it's not what he does it's what he wants to do.

Obama wants the working poor to have medical insurance, the squeezed lower middle to not lose a home because of medical bills. You oppose that? Or, is it just that we can't afford it? We're too poor a nation, to overstretched militarily, so, basically, the working poor and squeezed lower middle... too bad, so sad... your GOP dad....

CM, this country was not and is not intended to be a democracy by its true definition. It is intended to be a Republic where majority does rule, but cant step on certain unalienable rights.

This is a link to a very interesting article. It is about Black Republicans running for Congress who believe that the color of their skin will actually help them 'tell it the way it is.' I believe black democrats would call them race traitors rather than racists. Glen Beck recently hosted two black conservative shows and had a room full of successful black people of various backgrounds, some were business people, clergy, talk radio hosts, etc.; I would love to see race baiters Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson debate these independent thinkers and superb role models for the black community.

I have contributed to Lieutenant Colonel Allen West's campaign and will continue to do whatever I can to help him get elected. He has served his country well in times of war and peace and has done some pretty remarkable stuff. He will definitely vote to keep our country safe.

In his Army career, Col. West has been honored many times, including a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals (one with Valor), and a Valorous Unit Award. He received his valor award as a Captain in Desert Shield/Storm, was the US Army ROTC Instructor of the Year in 1993, and was a Distinguished Honor Graduate III Corps Assault School. He proudly wears the Army Master parachutist badge, Air Assault badge, Navy/Marine Corps parachutist insignia, Italian parachutist wings, and German proficiency badge (Bronze award).

Aside from Fox News, the major news networks pretty much act as if black conservatives do not exist - and even FNC regularly welcomes the race hustler Rev. Al to speak on behalf of the "black community."

Conservative radio hosts like Neil Boortz and Rush Limbaugh turn their shows over to conservative black guest hosts like Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, and Herman Cain on a regular basis. If not for Limbaugh and Boortz, most Americans would never have had the opportunity to hear their voices. Cain also has his own local show in Georgia. IMO, Dr. Sowell and Dr. Williams could both have been successful talk radio hosts had they chosen that career path.

I also saw the Glenn Beck show where he hosted black conservatives. I do not believe that we will ever see a similar show on CNN or MSNBC.

I hope that Obama has not forever spoiled the chances for a qualified African-American who believes in this country to become president one day. Col. West sounds like a great candidate with a promising political career ahead of him.

Wouldn't that be a constitutional democracy?

This guys was making sense until he told people to get their muskets and fix bayonets.

He is inciting violence. He is no different than any other revolutionary who condones and encourges violence. He even suggests that we use violence as a means to an end.

I.E. Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Pol Pot, Pinochet', Guevara, Castro, Arafat, Bin Laden, Koresh, MacVeigh, Rudolph Etc.

He and his kind should be locked up for good.

Yeah we certainly dont need any of those Paul Revere, Patrick Henry, George Washington, and a host of other circa 1770 type "goons" around. I agree. Lock em all up and throw away the key.

First of all - he is speaking figuratively as I am sure you are aware. If you are not, let me be clear, the men and women of our military are the last who want to use violence because they know and understand the horrors of war and violence.

That said, his use of "fix bayonets" obviously is a rally cry for his supporters and campaign workers that his campaign against incumbent Ron Klein will be a tough one. Come on, a retired Army Veteran is going to talk in way that is familiar to him - Army lingo. For you to suggest this war veteran and man who served our country honorable should be locked up for a figure of speech speaks volumes about how liberals feel about our military veterans. For you to compare him to those evil despots is shameful...:boosign:

His inciteful language perpetuates a cycle of violence. We have a system of government that allows us to throw out the garbage every 2, 4 or 6 years. No need for violence. Or any references to it.

You guys and your hero here sound like Bill Ayers and his cronies from the Weather Underground or perhaps Malcolm X.

I prefer non-violent protest and excersizing my democratic rights to a violent coup any day.

You guys could learn quite a bit about non-violence and how it can bring about change if you read a little history on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Ghandi.

Your inability to see the similarities between you and the afore mentioned despots speaks volumes as well.

So a Republican candidate speaks metaphorically about taking power back from the tyrants currently in charge and he is suddenly no better than common terrorists like Bill Ayers. Don't you just love the politically correct liberals?

Attacking metaphors as if they could explode and kill innocent victims at any time. Maybe some people need to review the tapes of the new Black Panther Party members attempts to physically intimidate white voters at the polls in support of B. Hussein Obama - or watch the video of another Obama goon shoving a reporter to the ground for attempting to ask Martha Coakley a question on a public sidewalk in our nation's capital. Some people seem to have forgotten the SEIU thugs who attacked a black vendor for selling his products at a tea party event.

There is a difference between real violence and the exercise of free political speech but Obama supporters tend to confuse the two when it suits them. Obama's Justice Department continues to refuse to take action against the New Black Panther thugs while his supporters decry politically incorrect speech. The hypocrisy is quite amazing but voters seem to be catching on to Obama's games.

Isn't Ayers a friend of Obama?

What about Rev. Wright and his "gd America" sermon..........

To Right Wing Flirt Party: The Obama = Hitler =Mao = Stalin stuff is in the same spirit as what you are decrying above. Seldom is the two sets of rules standard so clearly seen in so short a space.

Metaphor:

1. A figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance.

2. Something used, or regarded as being used, to represent something else, emblem, symbol.

I suggest the both of you take a creative writing class and find some better metaphors.

Or is that just the way you're wired? With a tendency to use violence the threat of violence or just the reference of violence to make a point.

Please help my non-violent dove brain figure it all out.

I suggest that you start paying attention to the real threats of violence and the real violence used by Obama and his supporters and stop playing the silly politically correct word games to demonize conservatives. Organizing mobs to stage protests to intimidate banks into loaning money to people who know that they cannot repay loans - that is an example of a real threat of violence. Threatening to fine or jail people who refuse to buy health care insurance by unleashing the IRS on them - that is another example.

Sending goons to polling places armed with nightsticks - that is real intimidation. Having your Justice Department cover up for such goonss - that is the kind of thing that really fosters a climate of violence.

Perhaps you should address the real issues of violence, threats of violence, politicization of the US Justice Department, and other corruption among your fellow Obama supporters before criticizing a conservative candidate's choice of metaphors too much - or is that just how you are wired?

Black Panthers had wielded weapons, blocked polls

Court records reviewed by The Times show that career Justice lawyers were seeking a default judgment and penalties against the three men as recently as May 5, before abruptly ending their pursuit 10 days later.

People directly familiar with the case, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity because of fear of retribution, said career lawyers in two separate Justice offices had recommended proceeding to default judgment before political superiors overruled them.

Tensions between career lawyers and political appointees inside the Justice Department have been a sensitive matter since allegations surfaced during the Bush administration that higher-ups had ignored or reversed staff lawyers and that some U.S. attorneys had been removed or selected for political reasons.
I did take a creative writing class at UK. I believe that class was where i first heard that term. That or my public speaking class. I didn't think it was a cry for violence but a cry for a revolution.

Nice article that provides an explanation of what the bayonet metaphor means that anybody should be able to grasp.

Colonel West has a bright future in politics and I did not see any evidence of a teleprompter anywhere in his vicinity. West is the kind of conservative candidate that keeps liberals in Congress awake at night. He is an impressive public speaker with the right message at the right time.

No I don't think it is an article but rather a posting or blog. Not a source to be credible on the exact meaning of the phrase. However I think its someone else drawing a metaphor for nonviolent action from a violent situation. Its about desperation and trying something new(change) to find success.
