I've recently heard some tidbits that leads me to think things are going to get even better than earlier anticipated for 2010. I've heard that the level of enthusiasm is improving and a few "new" young men are joining the team. (I am not referring to incoming freshmen.)

Please do not read anything into the foregoing statement, for all I am saying is That SC just may be a little better than expected.

I have also heard that the players are working very hard in the off-season; the young men that are not participating in wrestling or basketball have a regimen that they perform, and that's a good thing.

As we all know, the district has good teams and any one team is surely capable of betting the other on a given night. I am not making any predictions, but I am saying that I think SC will do well in 2010.

Paulcssi, time will tell whether your "tidbits" of information are true or untrue. Are you just hoping that the enthusiasm level, the hard work the guys are doing, and the additional players, will boost SC's fortunes in 2010. Also, do you know for a fact that your information is not just scuttlebutt.

Finally, I would like to know, are you a Sheldon Clark fan? I would definitely think so, but if you are, I suspect that you could be hoping and dreaming.

Good luck, Cards, in your endeavors to win the district and region in 2010. But I believe you will have to work extremely hard for this to come to fruition.

Good to hear OSUFAN, I hope you guys are very successful this year as I think you will be. Its good to hear you have guys in lifting this early as it will help in the long. Ive heard some things and if they happen they will help this team so much.

I, too, have heard some tidbits that give me hope that SC will be even better than some think. I know from osufan's comments that the guys are working hard in the weight room, etc., which bodes well for 2010. Moreover, agility and speed are also a part of the program, I think. So, Cards, keep up the good work; it will pay huge dividends, come 2010 season.

In reply to Landser.Amer, yes, I am a Sheldon Clark fan; I have a grandson that plays. He will be a Junior this coming season; he was out four or five games last season, due to an injury, and not one hundred per cent during three or four games in which he saw limited action. So I definitely hope that he and the SC team can go injury free in 2010. As a matter of fact, I would like to see injury free football for all teams. But I know that that is not possible, for, unfortunately, injuries are a part of the game. One makes the best of what one has at game time.

I think it is a given, the better shape the players are in, the possibility of injuries are reduced significantly. But I realize that "fluke" situations do occur, and, again, that is part of the game.

Good luck, Cards, for the 2010 football season!

Do you all (SC) not lift everyday? Do you do it on a "mandatory" basis? Are you just now starting to lift (since football season)? Just a few questions I was curious about... Smile

yes we lift everyday. its not mandatory but we all just want to get better for next year and some of us have been lifting sence footballs went out. we also run and do cardio everyday. we have a full weight room everyday but alot of the starters play other sports so they cant lift. but they have plenty of time to get stronger.

Based upon what I saw last season, yes, Tyler will be in the mix, though only a sophomore. And, yes, he does in fact have a lot of potential. But SC returns a group of good backs in addition to Tyler. They are, if I am correct: Moore, Ray, Skyles, Stepp, and Lafferty. And I have also heard via the grapevine that possibly Taylor Chapman might be moved to fullback. So, SC should be pretty solid in the backfield.

But let us not forget those linemen; they make it possible for the backs to perform. A team is not going to be A++ without a line that can clear the way.

Landser, Amer.,
You are right-on regarding the backs that Sheldon Clark will have in 2010; however, I think you failed to mention one that performed very well last year, BJ Jarrell, who will be a junior this coming season.

I hear through pretty reliable sources that the guys are working extremely hard in the off-season, which bodes well for a successful 2010. But, guys, don't get overconfident, for you will be facing teams that want to win, also, i.e., Belfry, Lawrence County, Pike County Central, Johnson Central, etc.

So, keep working, improving, and get into "better physical condition" than your opponents, and you will do very well.

I'm looking forward to 2010 football season.
#79
paulcssi, yes, unfortunately I did fail to mention BJ Jarrell. And I also think he has great potential.

I probably did not see as many games as you did. I think I recall seeing on some previous post that you had a grandson playing for SC. If you do not mind saying, who would that be?

I'm looking forward to seeing a few more games this coming season.

ive herd great and exiting things about this chris slone boy from sheldon clark i herd he was the truth on the line. are my facts right?
#81
Landser, Amer.:
In regard to my having a grandson playing for SC, I would rather not reveal his identity, for I am obviously somewhat prejudice and feel that he will perform well in 2010. Moreover, for that matter, I feel the whole team will perform well. We all know that it takes a TEAM effort, and I definitely believe that SC will be a good team in the 2010 season.

I know that they are working hard to be a good team, and moreover, I think they will achieve that worthy objective.

Good luck, Sheldon Clark! Remember, luck is enhanced by preparation, hard work, and perseverance.
#82
Chris slone is a very good tackle with excellent footwork and a mean streak, graded out well with our o_line coaches.Channing smith the other tackle also graded well, needs to work on footwork, extremely strong. These two will receive offers from major colleges.
#83
The rb skyles has received letters from some major d-1 programs, power runner with speed, we tested him in the weight room and on the field, excellent results.wr Moore has good speed and shows good hands, playing fulltime wr will improve running routes, also ko returner.Skyles and Moore are legite high school homerun hitters from anywhere on the field.rb ray is more quick than fast, elusive with excellent balance, another threat to take it to the house. This info is short version of a recruiting coordinator, can not list school.
#84
imo ray is the best back they got.. not putting down skyles or any other back ray is more the all around back n should have another great season.. which skyles shuold have a great season to.

Very good to hear That the guys from SC are getting some recognition. I sincerely believe that SC will surprise a few opponents this coming season. If SC can have minimal injuries, I feel that they will do extremely well.

Sheldon Clark was truly a good team last year. However, they seemed to not have that one true athelete to make the team great. Several players contributed overal and that made for a well balanced team. However, they need that one game changer. With so much talent lost to graduation I dont see that talent next year either.

Bulldog fan:
I agree with your first comment but think that you may be counting them short for the 2010 season. I truly believe they will be as good as last year, and possibly somewhat better.

I hear from very reliable source that a good number of the guys are working extremely hard, and have been since the last game in 2009. But I am also aware that what counts is how they perform in 2010.

Sure, they have lost valuable seniors but that is true for most teams. SC, however, has some talented returnees. They have some guys that can step up and fill the gaps created by graduation.

I am not going to mention names, for I may leave out someone that will be a surprise and contribute much more than is expected.

Moreover, I have also heard that there is more interest this year, probably due to a successful 2009; a few "new" people are coming out for the team.
I am not talking about incoming freshmen.

Lastly, I am not completely sure about the "true athlete;" however, one of the returnees might just fill that bill, for some are working very hard to improve themselves. Desire and hard work will do wonders!

Obviously I am a SC fan, and just maybe I have let my optimism override my view of the team. But, bottom line, I feel SC will do well in 2010.
