Steven Blevins is the best to come from Lawrence County.
He's the starting pitcher for the Cincinnatti Bearcats this year!

I think after the 2008 season, Scottie Litle will have been the best to have put on an Allen Central uniform. Neil Allen and Shannon Moore were good too back when they led the Rebels to their only Region Championship. Tyler Turner isn't too bad of a player himself either.

Austin Shelton was one hell of a pitcher for the Rebels back in the 90's. I think around 95-97. The kid could pitch.

John Doug Miller was pretty good.. David Lemaster was good also.. he went to Clemson.. John Doug went to Morehead where he went to the Mid East Regional Finals.. and i think he still holds the OVC record w/ most hits.. But Lemaster went to the College world series.. where he caught.. These Two were from PAINTSVILLE :big grin:

I'll be the first to say I dont follow baseball closely, but from what I can recall, Brandon Webb has been the best baseball player from Ashland. He's currently the #1 pitcher for the Diamondbacks out in Arizona.

I talked to a former SC baseball coach a few years back and asked if he thought Brad was the best player ever from SC and the coach mentioned Quillen, but here is what he said. Brad was the kind of baseball player you saw once in a lifetime where as Quillen was a player that you see every 10 - 12 years at a surrounding school. That is what the coach told me exactley. I don't know alot of baseball and never saw Quillen play, but that came from someone that does know baseball. Not saying your wrong, just saying what I heard.

From Johnson Central it would have to be Willie Blair he played at Morehead and in the Majors with the Blue Jays, Tigers, Indians and Pirates.
Heath Castle is currently playing in the minor's

I played with Derrick Quillen at pikeville college for a short time. Some one told me he had died several years ago, is there any truth to it? Derrick Quillen was a powerhouse player short stocky and hardnosed. Tiller was a completely different type player tons of speed and more athletic. Quillen was a very likeable guy, haven't seen him since our first (only) semester of college.

Tiller was the type of ATHLETE that you only see once in a lifetime there is no debating that but like I said I never got to see Quillen play everyday. No way was he the athlete Brad was, SC will probably never have another in that aspect. Just throwing Quillen's name out there because I know he is kind've a forgotten man and he should be recognized for his talents. He did tragically die in a car accident about 10 years ago to my knowledge. Hell, Tiller's my boy and like I said he's the best that I really got to see play. The only thing that I really remember about Derek is him hitting a grand slam to beat someone in 16 to 18 yr old all stars. I like you can only go by what I've heard and I heard he was as good or better than Tiller.
