Classless. Par for the course.
I hate that our presidents feel compelled to lower themselves to the level of bad stand-up comedians. The trend over the last couple of decades for presidents to show that they are just "one of the boys" has really diminished the office.
That being said, I think that both Bush and Clinton were much better at stand up comedy than Obama has been. None of them compare to **** Cheney's dead pan humor, IMO.

You guys need to loosen up. It was all in good fun. Just because your all in the majority he was making fun of, you went and got your panties in a bunch.
The lion king thing was brilliant.
AND DID WE REALLY GO TO THE MOON?

It's the President's(Republican and Democrat) one chance a year to lighten up and have fun.

It's the President's(Republican and Democrat) one chance a year to lighten up and have fun.If you want to search here and on the "other" major Kentucky high school sports website, you will find multiple posts in which I have bemoaned the fact that the office of the president has been cheapened since it became common place for our presidents to do guest gigs on late night talk shows, Oprah, etc. I recall other conservatives doing the same. Either your memory is not so good or you managed to avoid reading the criticism at the time.
Bill Clinton started this ridiculous trend with his late night TV appearances and his appearance on MTV. The tradition of presidents lowering the bar in front of the Washington media may predate Clinton but these events have received way too much public attention during the last few administrations.
I vividly remembering the professor for my Political Science 101 class, who I suspect leaned left politically, detailing how Jimmy Carter squandered the power of the presidency from Day 1 by being sworn in as "Jimmy" rather than "James," by wearing sweaters to address the nation instead of expensive looking clothes, and generally failing to use the symbols of the office to project political power.
Unfortunately, when Clinton crossed the line, he apparently lowered the bar for future presidents. Now, candidates cannot afford to pass up the free publicity of TV talk shows and "roast" type appearances because their opponents will take advantage of the opportunity to appear as one of the boys. The country was much better off being led by presidents who stood on a higher level than Clinton, Bush, and Obama have.
When Ronald Reagan assumed the presidency, what my professor had said about Carter's mistakes really hit home. When Reagan appeared dressed in something other than a suit, he was chopping wood or performing some other "manly" activity. Reagan had a quick wit and a great sense of humor but he never hit the talk show circuit or performed a late night comedy routine on TV.

What I said was that Bill Clinton lowered the bar for acceptable behavior by presidents and opened the floodgates for the appearance of candidates and presidents in forums previously reserved for real comedians and other do-anything-for-a-buck celebrities.
The first presidential appearance at the annual White House Correspondents dinner was made by Calvin Coolidge in 1924. There have now been a total of 14 presidential appearances in 87 years - but it seems to have become a tradition for presidents to attend annually. The event is drawing much more media coverage than it did years ago.
There was nothing good natured about Obama's jabs at Donald Trump, of whom I am no fan either, just mean-spirited attacks on a guy who was not given an opportunity to respond. Not much different than his attack on the Supreme Court justices who attended last year's State of the Union speech. Obama is a classless, cowardly, socialist punk and his kind of "humor" is as much responsible for polarizing this nation as anything else.

^I would add to that the following. It is the atypical response of lawyers et al to mount an assault on the character of their opponent in devastating fashion. As I have stated on here before there is no depth to low to stoop in the name of winning for the todays' democrat. The President and a host of other ultra liberal politicians have done far worse than polarize America with their character assassinationist bent. We have literally degenerated as a people to the elementary school yard, but, I would argue that words hurt as much or more than sticks and stones.
Not that it's a shell game but, the idea is to take the attention off the real issue if it doesn't suit them. Most of the time the dems are defending a position that doesn't lend itself well to a logical argument so we find ourself in the position of redefining morality in most cases because that makes the other side of any argument to seem self serving. The reverse is true of course but, for some reason most of the time republicans debate the dems on thier turf. Not realizing that having right on your side is still a huge advantage, even today.
The air of superiority that Mr. Obama exudes as he smurks his way through yet another assault/speech on the person of Trump, or the republicans, or whoever the cross hairs are on, is no put on. The liberal adgenda is rammed down the throats of the majority of students in our nation from kindergarten on, till they cross the stage at university xyz. I really think most of those who have bought into the liberal wasteland of secular humanism believe that the traditiional values our nation was founded on, and made us great up until the sexual revolution of the 60's, is the domain of the simple minded. In short, they are the product of the liberal academia which comprise the lion's share of all college professors in our institutions today.
That is why in my oppinion liberals believe so overwhelmingly that we can educate ourselves, along with legislate of course, to the perfect world. That is truth as man understands it and, that is truth devoid of true knowledge which first and foremost recognizes that man is created, and not spawned in some puddle.
I would think that Trump would make a very good secretary of commerce. Sadly, the list of candidates now looks anemic at best for the republicans. Who look destined to do no better than a rino- ala John McCain. I don't have a problem with changing a position on issues as one gains wisdom and experience. I certainly wonder how a Southern Baptist can go out of his faith and become a Catholic though. It's still very early, hope somebody steps up.

The Democratic Party has become the party of fear and smear and their primary campaign strategy seems to be to accuse Republicans of those very things. Bill Clinton has been the best Democratic president since JFK by a wide margin and he was impeached for lying to a federal judge. That pretty much sums up the quality of the "statesmen" that the party has produced over the past few decades.

Yeah, I don't know if Trump's a patriot or not. I'm glad you can see the dems strategy of accusing the other party of being guilty of the very thing they are doing at the time. Take for instance the deal with the mean spirited speech, the hate was, and is, just dripping off every word when the dems are blaming the republicans for absolutely everything that is considered wrong. But, all the while they are committing murder with their mouths they are saying on every medium available that it is the republicans that are guilty of the hate speech. They lost the presidency after the ultimate liar for hire, Mr. Clinton's term was mercifully over. During the Bush era they fumed and fussed for 8 years, so filled with resentment and hatred that now even though they have center stage they can't stop whining and blaming long enough to get anything done. My point is evidenced by the antics of Chuck Schumer who was caught recently revealing this very tactic when he admitted that the caucus wants the right to be referred to as extremists.

One can be both a shameless self promoter and a patriot. P. T. Barnum was.
