How so? Data=Cheaper than AT&T. Unlimited talk=cheaper than AT&T. Unlimited talk and text=cheaper than AT&T. Rate plans basically identical. The only thing AT&T has that App doesn't is rollover minutes. But with AT&T you need those rollover minutes because you can't use your phone half of the time with AT&T due to a lack of service.

And to answer the question above, Appalachian Wireless had 3G in 2009. We will be building out 4G here in Kentucky (not just Eastern KY either) in the 4th quarter of this year and beyond. So congrats AT&T users, you get 3G around the time Appalachian Wireless goes 4G.

How's the signal where you are at most of the day? If you are in low signal areas, your battery works harder to pull in more service.

Also, if you have an android device, some apps you download constantly ping the data network without you even knowing, causing your battery to drain faster.

Advanced Task Killer, after much research, has found to harm the phone more than it helps. Reason being, some of the apps that the task killer kills are crucial to the performance of the phone. I don't know if you've noticed or not, but if you kill an app, you can go in 5 minutes later and that same app will be there to be killed again, even without you opening that certain program. This is because that app is vital to the performance of the handset itself.

So in your honest opinion, I should get rid of the app?

My wife works for the Floyd co health dept and travels the county daily. Appalachian wireless is the only service thats worth having in most of the county. Espically in the southern end of the county. Some her co-workers have other services and will be searching for signal while shes talking..
Dosnt matter if ones cheaper than the other, a phone aint worth crap if you cant talk on it..

Exactly. I've been through the same thing. I've been talking away on my phone and my buddies are searching for service.

Damnnnnnnnn AT&T....You mad bro?

Seriously though, AT&T is useless around here for the most part, while AW's prices are outrageous/customer service is abhorrent, but at least it works

My bill makes me want too burn AW too the ground.

What do you have that makes your bill so high? EVERYTHING we have as far as data, unlimited talk & text, and rate plans are cheaper than AT&T?

Honestly, yes. When you use the task killer, it kills out apps that need to be ran. So when you kill an app, the phone will automatically restart the app, which in the end, will use more power than it just running in the background.

Not anymore, I have 4 bars with 3G in the hospital now. Appalachian Wireless will not get 4G. They've said theyd get the iphone since it came out and also, if your phone messes up you just take it to the Apple store and they give you a brand new one if you have insurance. At AW, they take your phone and send it off for about 3 weeks and give you a flip black and white loaner phone :HitWall:

Yeah, you're right. I don't know what I'm talking about.

And as far as the iPhone comment, you know absolutely nothing about what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to getting a device. First of all, no one ever said we'd be getting it. Second of all, if you saw the 18 pages worth of information that Apple requested from us in February, you would see that we are working diligently to be able to carry the device. Apple told us in February that they would give us an answer in April. April rolled around and they told us they still weren't sure whether we could carry it or not and told us they'd have an answer in 6-8 weeks. After 8 weeks, we contacted Apple and they told us to wait another 6-8 weeks. So before you go and bash our company for not carrying a particular device, you may want to hear the whole story about how we've worked our tails off to get it.

Appalachian Wireless is ridiculous. Not their prices and customer service really, even though that's pathetic as well, it's the cell service I can't find anywhere. Hell, when I'm in Pikeville I don't even have full bars.

Most of my family lives in the rural areas of Pike County...around this time last year, AT&T's service wasn't all that great where they live. Now when I go to visit them, their AW phones struggle to get service and my iPhone always has at least 2 bars.

It seems as if AW has gotten worse over the last year or two and AT&T has gotten much better. Nothing will make me ever use AW again. Gah, every time I walk into AW's stores, I walk out wanting to punch them in the face. Been in there around 4 or 5 times, each time had to deal with some rude asshole.

I never compared AW to AT&T bill wise.
#28
I know when I was using AW I almost had to kill people to get to the desk to pay my bill.. Always a million ppl in the Hazard one.. So glad I went back to AT&T.. I don't get the best signal with AT&T, but soon as I step out of the house I have full bars all the way to work. I stay in town usually and I always have signal.. They messed up on my bill this past period, I went into the AT&T office in Hazard and they credited me back with what they owed me. That's true customer service, top notch IMO.

The service I recieved when I did have AW, well the signal was pretty good (better than AT&T's) but the prices were steeper and the customer service was pathetic. Appalachian Wireless is what it is, a money racket of the surrounding counties.
#29
Ive never had any problem with Appalachians service, but Ive never used it much either. I pay online. My wife, like I said before makes almost daily runs in the souther end of floyd county. Wheelwright, Weeksberry,Legion, jacks creek, etc and ATT is just about usless down there.Better than it use to be, but still not as good as AW.She could care less about 3 or 4 g. She just talks on her phone  never text'd in her life..
Talking on a phone, what foolishness is that :lmao:
