Somerset 33 Pulaski Co. 20
#1
Final.
#2
Another game I predicted correctly.

Good win for Somerset in their bowl game.
#3
Should be a nice addition to the Somerset weekly chronicles that have been published
#4
Congrats to the Jumpers. They seem to be rolling and I don't expect them to slow down anytime soon

Somerset was up 33-7 late in the 3rd quarter before Pulaski started to try and make a game of it. All it took was one Somerset stop and it was over. Pretty well played game by the Jumpers but still a lot of stuff to improve on. Somerset had three turnovers in the first half, two of which were inside the Pulaski red zone. Pulaski also had a couple turnovers, one of which was a pick returned for a TD by Jalen Jones. Defense ran to the ball well but they have got to tackle better. Overall a pretty well played game by Somerset. Lange, Gadberry, and Storm were the Jumpers biggest offensive players.

congrats to the Jumpers

Congrats Somerset.

Glad I got this right on the GOTW.

This game wasn't as close as the final score indicated.

Another solid effort by the Briar Jumpers. Somerset looked to be more physical than the bigger Maroons. Somerset has to clean up the fumbles. 2 fumbles inside the red zone, 1 of them at the 2 yard line plus another around kept Somerset from hanging 50 on Pulaski. That can't happen down the road but it's always a good win when you beat a crosstown rival. I think this one settled who runs this town this season.

Well, I guess I am eating some crow for this one! In the very beginning, it seemed as if it was going to have the score of a basketball game as it was 13-7 in under 2 minutes of play! Then, Somerset just took over. The Briar Jumper line, although smaller, seemingly dominated on both sides of the ball for the majority of the game. The Maroons inexperience on offense was exposed by Somerset, as Pulaski had 4 turnovers, one of which was a pick 6, to Somerset's 1 in the first half.

In the 2nd half it appeared as the Maroons were going to make a game of it, currently down 33-7, when Alec Wooldridge ran for a 78 yard TD. Then Pulaski recovered a fumble on the kickoff, which allowed them to make another drive ending with Tyler Jackson scoring to make it 33-20. The Maroons defense would cause a 3 and out for the Jumpers next possession and got the ball back with plenty of time to score and get the ball back again. The Maroons would get 4 1st downs in a row off run plays to get to the Somerset 20 yard line and then the drive stalled as for some reason Coach Hines went with several pass plays instead of sticking with the run that had been working. A HUGE mistake also came back to bite the Maroons at the end of the game because they had to call an timeout due to a careless mistake of only having 8 players on the field for a PAT attempt!

An interesting stat in this game was that Pulaski actually had more yards than Somerset with 358 to Somerset's 356 which, this stat can be attributed to Somerset having better field position throughout the game.

Alex Lange and Storm Wilson were quite the offensive duo for Somerset in this one!

Alex Lange won the Offensive Player of the Game and Justin Cornett won the Defensive Player of the Game!! Congrats to both!

Congrats to the Briar Jumpers, you guys proved that you are the best!!

^

I just thought the Maroons lost to much last season to win this game.

Congrats B-Jumpers.

I must say that I did have a good time at the game. The placed was packed and there was a great atmosphere! TongueirateSho The student sections on both sides were rockin and the body paint may have gone overboard but, it's all in fun! The Tenderloin sandwiches were GREAT, I remember Jumper Dad mentioned them!

Didn't think graduation would hurt Pulaski that much, Congrats Somerset!

You didn't see the sign that was hung from the pedestrian overpass across highway 80 yesterday?

I think my pick was Somerset 38-20... I almost got it right

I saw where a sign had been but, it looked like it had been partially torn down.

It wasn't anything malicious or anything it was just hung up there by some PC fans. It said that they run this town...it appears that is not the case this season.

GREAT CORRELL BOWL GAMES!!!
Atmosphere was great, fans were well behaved, for the most part.
Both games were fun to watch and weather was really nice once the sun dipped below the tree line.

My biggest question after last night is who wins when Pulaski and Southwestern play later this season.

I agree Somerset could have easily hung 50 on Pulaski but they didn't, give credit to Pulaski for forcing several key turnovers when they had to.

B/U QB Tanner Gadberry looked really good throwing the ball, showed a very strong and accurate arm tonight going 6-6 for over 100 yards.

Looking forward to more of the "Jack Rabbit" formation with both QB's in at once.

Tyler Jackson for Pulaski seemed to be in on every play, I bet his name was called 50 times on the P.A. on O and D.

LeeCo if you come to another game let me know, like to meet and say high.

I missed the signs but the sad thing is no team can say they run this town anymore. People can flap their gums but unless they play each other it don't mean anything.
#23
Yeah. All three teams need to play one another every year.

After going back and watching the film Somerset totally dominated the Maroons up front on both sides of the ball and should have indeed scored 50. However, 2 of the fumbles were on just great hits by Pulaski. Watching it live I thought maybe the Somerset players didn't have the football put away but that wasn't the case.
