Now everyone saw what I was talking about. I told you that Gate City would be overmatched and that western Virginia football cannot compare with Kentucky football.

Another drubbing against against Lee High in two weeks, and we will be 4-0 heading into the Knox Central game which I also see us winning by more than 2 TD's. But KCHS will be the best team we have played so far this year by far.

Agree... a top 10 AAA team beating up a top 10 A team doesn't compare.
SW VA (west of I-77) has no schools as big as Harlan Co., so I don't expect anyone here could compete with them if they're top 10.

I went to HSS.net/massey and plugged in Gate City vs. Belfry. Prediction was GC by 1.

Great atmosphere for a game. Reminded me of a playoff game. Great crowd for bothteams. The train horn didnt get to go off much!lol I hope #19 is ok! They had a couple of shifty refs. Glad the judge kept them in line. The bears showed excellent character in a hostile env. On to the next one!

We are good, but we have not played anyone, yet. After Knox Central got beat by PCC last night they are down too. I guess they are still trying to adjust to a new coach.

Bell and PCC is HC's only competetion this year.
If they can get by them two, HC will go 10-0.
Bell dont matter because its non district and i still dont think PCC is on HC's level this year, however that week will be really fun on this site lol.
In the playoffs, theyll cruise threw the first two round and will honestly probably meet PCC again for region where they should win, then only one more game to state.
Thats when things change though, because the west is VERY tough. Hopefully by then HC will be ready.

As good as this win and 3-0 feels I have to say I've had a very sick feeling in my gut since watching #19 go down last night. Moma Bear just know we love you, your family, and especially that kid and are hoping and praying for you.

Bell is down a little from what they have been. So, do you honestly think that Gate City would not get beat by Hazard? And do you think that any of the teams that we have played so far are that good?? Honestly? I am just as happy as anyone that we are rolling these teams. That is what good teams are supposed to do.

I honestly believe that we are number 1 or 2 in 5A and probably top 5 in the entire state regardless of class.

I am not being a Debbie Downer, but I am being realistic. It is hard to get a good measure of where you are when you are playing these types of teams. Yes we are winning and winning big, so that is a good sign.

Gate City is a good team and I don't know if Hazard could stop them. They are very good up front, but we are better. Why can't it just be that they are good teams and we are better? I just don't get why come on here and whizz all over everything everyone says. You know exactly what you are doing.

Maybe Bell would. Don't know about the other two. GC is good up front. You just don't know how good. They are a very, very solid football team who will likely win their second consecutive state title or at worst finish 2nd.

You are the type of dude who, if we were lucky enough to win it all, would be sitting in the bleachers saying, "Well they only won it because Highlands wasn't here." or "5A is the weakest division by far." or "Bowling Green must really be down."

Congrats to HC on a win. Using that effort to decide you are 2 TD's better than KC might be a bit premature. I will be sure to share your sentiment with them though. Gate City is a tough little Single A program in a place where football is about small towns competing against each other for pride and bragging rights. Unfortunately the droans in VA are following the poor leadership of KY to move to big county schools instead of keeping education a town matter.

You will get your shot at KC. HC is a good team. It will be a war. We can't wait.

From what I was hearing earlier in the week, I thought that Gate City would be able to make a game out of this but, I guess this shows just how dominant the Black Bears are this year!! Kinda Scary!!

I am not "whizzing" on anything. We are better than the teams we are playing, but we have not played anyone yet. If you don't think Hazard can beat Gate City then you are crazy. I was at the game last night, and I have watched Hazard as well. There is no way that Gate City could keep up with Hazard. The score would not be as bad as last night's game, but I would say it would be about 28-7 or 14.

I don't understand why people get so upset that I am being a realist.

Okay I am going to say what everyone wants to hear: We have beaten 3 of the best teams in the state of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia. There will not be any games on the schedule as good as the three we have beaten.

I would like to have another shot at Highlands. 5A is open this year: we have a chance to become the dominant program in 5A because it is lacking the traditional and big name programs.

I really believe that if we are lucky enough to make it to Bowling Green then we will/can beat Bowling Green. I do not have a lot of respect for football out in the western half of the state outside of Mayfield and the Owensboro schools. I have watched too many state championship games where the west gets rolled when they make it.
