Lawrence county is young but getting better.congrats to prestonsburg on the win! Keep your heads up high bulldogs nice second half defense. im proud of my team no matter what overated or underated they play their butts off and that all i can ask.

Right where I expected my dawgs to be at this point in the season. However, they took one quarter off against the Blackcats tonight and that was the difference.

It was the Grant Anderson & Bryson Williams show in the first half. Prestonsburg come out very flat and Lawrence made some adjustments and did a lot better of defense after they couldn't make a stop in the first.
Joseph Jamerson has reaggravated his shoulder injury he suffered against Perry Central and only played on the first drive for Prestonsburg. Hope he gets to feeling better this week because the Blackcats are going to need him against Belfry.
Congrats Blackcats... best of luck to Lawrence County on the rest of season!

When Jamerson gets healthy I really think Pburg is going to be scary offensively.

Agreed... this is the most balanced team we've ever had.

Congrads Blackcats! Good win! Gotta get that D a little better before next week though. Overall the team did well, hope Jamerson gets healthy by Friday!!

At the beginning, LC drove the ball straight down the field on Prestonsburg with a nice passing game. But after that, P-burg took over. It seemed to me like the Dawgs just quit!

And I would also like to add. That was an awesome entrance onto the field with the motorcycle leading them out.

As usual P'burg has a very solid team. The 1st quarter was about even. P'burg won the second quarter and the Lawrence defense completely dominated the second half. The LC offense has got to have some work and better play calling. And whats up with not fielding punts? Delay of game on a ROUTINE point after?? These first 5 games are scrimmages to learn from, for players and coaches, then the real season begins. LC proved they could play with P'burg and will give Perry Central all they can handle next week. Good game Dawgs and the best of luck to the Blackcats for the 2011 season and thanks for the "education"

I wasnt a fan of the entrance, but I think Im the only one that didnt like it.
Im not sure it was Dominating Defence in the second half as must as Pburg just trying to eat clock with a 26-6 lead.
(Not trying to take away from LC, but thats just what it seemed like to me)

How was you not a fan of that? lol

That entrance was pretty sweet!

LC played Pburg better than I thought they would. Nice effort from the defense in the 2nd half. LC still needs to find their identity on offense but they have some talented players. Glad LC beefed up their schedule. As long as the boys keep working hard and learning from these games they'll be a solid football team come playoff time. Very similar schedule and results as Belfry last year. The Pirates got a lot better by seasons end and made it to the championship game. Keep your head up Bulldogs and keep working hard. You guys will be fine.

Getting beat by 3 scores is proving you can play with a team?

LC is young, like mentioned, but will get better and always be a contender and tough, hard-nosed team.

Did not like the entrance either... Prestonsburg is very good team and proved it again.. Second half defense for LC did a great job. Prestonsburg definitely just did not lay down and let the clock run down. LC is going to have to get their offensive game together.. Good luck to both teams during the rest or their seasons.

Notes from a hot, muggy night in Pburg...
I am a HUGE Coach Cecil fan. He is a FIRST CLASS individual, a FIRST CLASS coach, and if given enough time, he will restore LC to its glory days in a FIRST CLASS manner. He's just a great guy.
LC has talent, that is undeniable. They have good size and #75 looks like a giant on the field. He has great size, good feet, good hip flexibility, and is a fantastic blocker. I can see why Marshall got on him early.
The effort was there, but it appeared that at some key positions LC was just a little young and inexperienced. That will improve over the year.
The biggest thing I saw that LC was missing was pure, unadulterated SPEED. They seemed to be lacking the types of players they had so much of in the past who could just blow by you and take it to the house every time they touch the ball. However, I thought their game plan was extremely effective until Pburg got hot in the second quarter and put a bunch of points on the board. Once LC got behind and had to play catch-up, then it was a struggle for them. If they can get ahead of a team, run behind that big O line, mix in the short passes they were so effective on in the first half, and keep the clock moving, they will be a very difficult out come playoff time. Kudos to Coach Cecil for adopting this style of offense, as it gives them the very best chance at winning with his current personnel.
Prestonsburg came out a little flat to open the game, and had to rely on a goal line stand to stop LC's first drive. Then they proceeded to march 90+ yards for their first score WITHOUT THROWING A SINGLE PASS (yes, you read that correctly...). Losing Jamerson seemed to stun them a little bit, but once they got the ship righted, they utilized their other offensive weapons and took over the game in the second quarter.
The second half was a slugfest, just 2 good mountain teams hammering away at each other. Prestonsburg got a little conservative with their playcalling (as they should with a big lead), and even though both teams seemed to have success moving the ball up and down the field, neither team found the endzone.
Big nights from Grant Anderson and Bryson Williams. Kain Collins was simply an animal pounding the ball up the middle. Man, he runs hard... When Prestonsburg is mixing the deep ball to Jamerson and Williams, the short passes to Anderson, Griffith, and Jarrell, and pounding Collins up the middle, they are tough to handle.
Big shout out to Chris Cook, too. I spent the better part of the night watching for plays when he got matched up against #75 from LC (mostly when Prestonsburg was on offense). That, boys and girls, was a battle of 2 big, talented football players going up against each other. 2 of the best linemen in the region, if not THE best, right there...
LC keep your heads up. You will get better from this game, learn from your mistakes, and become an improved football team. The talent is there, the coaching is there, you just need to get some experience and a few wins under your belt to get some momentum and confidence.
Good win, Blackcats. Next week is Belfry, who comes off a huge win against a Lexington team...always a good thing. Let's get Jamerson healthy and get ready for a huge awesome crowd next Friday. It's gonna be a barnburner...
