Dale Anderson resigns at Southwestern
#1
Reports have this coming from multiple sources including Derek Forrest's Twitter. Anderson has been the only coach at Southwestern since the program's inception in 1993. Any word on when this is effective or what happened? The Warriors are off to a rough start at 1-3 but should be in great shape to finish no worse than second in their district and would likely be favored to win it.

WOW!! Talk about coming way out of left field!!

It seems like a bad time to choose to do this considering that they should be able to win the majority of their remaining games and possibly win a game or even two in the playoffs!

Umm wow, must be some major dissent at Southwestern. I feel sorry for the players, especially the seniors.

I hate to hear that Dale seems like a really nice guy. Has anyone heard anything as to why?

I think it all went down sometime this afternoon. I'm really surprised by this decision.

Andy Stephens, the former Casey County coach and current special teams coach at SWHS, has been named the interim head coach. Stephens coached the team at practice today.

Sounds quite unfortunate for the guys at SW. It's not like they've had a horrible season. They could actually challenge for the district. Hope they can use this in a positive sense.

Anderson, in 18-plus years at the helm of SWHS, led the Warriors to 4 district titles (1998, 1999, 2000, 2006) and 1 regional runner-up banner in 2006. He is the school's only ever head coach. His final record at SWHS 107-97.

Maybe team will rally together. I know it's tough on the boys, Somerset went through a coach resigning 11 days before the season a few years ago. Somerset rallied around new coach and won 27 of next 29 games.

Good Luck to the Warriors!

Care to elaborate? This seems like a very strange situation.

A change was needed at SW but the timing of this is very.................strange. I hope their is not more to the story than just a coach ready to hang up the whistle.

Him leaving like this was a MUST! Things will start filtering out soon. I will just say he could (should) be facing legal problems. My hope is that he kids can rebound and have a successful season and of course that the parents don't tear down the fieldhouse.
#16
I hate to say it, but the situation is not looking too good for Coach A. It's really sad that it had to end this way...
#17
Hate to see him go, he has done many great things for football in the state of Kentucky.

I really, really hate to hear that.

Hope Coach Stephens can coach these boys up and finish out the season strong.

I notice in the article that Coach twice says, "It doesn't feel right anymore." Only time will tell what that truly means, I guess.

If you and I are hearing the same things, then it could in fact get quite UGLY

I think once the team gets over the shock of the ordeal things will be okay for the Warriors. I talked to Coach Stephens today and he says the main thing is just trying to stay focused on Friday night's game.

How old is Anderson?

I would probably say somewhere in his early to mid 50s.
#25
Old enough to know better!
#26
You can resign. But NEVER do it the middle of the season.

Mike Fields article listed him as 54 years old.
