Who wins this gigantic district game?
09-24-2011, 11:30 AM
Even though Powell has made some noise, I feel like a lot of folks still think this is Garrard's district. I, however believe these Pirates will pull it out on the road. Go Pirates!

Should be a battle of the top 2 teams in the region according to some ratings. Powell runs the belly really well. Garrard has play making skill kids and is more balanced offensively. Probably will depend on defensive play and turnovers. I'll take home field advantage and Garrard.

I'm sure Garrad will be favored in this one but i believe it will be a dogfight. Im going with Powell by one touchdown for two reasons 1. because they have adapted and won everytime someone threw something new or different at them and they play as a team. 2.They dont care who runs it, catches it or scores as long as someone does. They are playing TEAM BALL!!!!!

This one could very well be decided at the coin toss. I predict that both teams will put numbers on the board. It will be determined by who makes the least mistakes and which
defense comes up with a couple of big plays. I'm going with Garrard by 2 in overtime. It
should be the game to watch this week. No matter who wins,, You are looking at #1 and
#2 in D5 and should see each other in the Regional Final.

Really. You think so? I say the jury is still out on this statement.

of this game will knock the breathe out of either team.

Will have to go with Garrard. It's at Garrard and Garrard has played a tougher schedule. They proved they can handle quickness by playing Danville to 22-14 before being defeated. However Powell is much improved and anything can happen on Friday nights.

What I know.....2 very good football teams are going to be in an absolute war friday night @ Dyehouse Stadium. Friday night can't get here fast enough!!
Prediction....Garrard County 26 Powell County 20. Homecoming Night @ Garrard County....Garrard County protects their home turf and takes control of the district.

You mean Garrard picked Powell to be their Homecoming Game? I mean, usually a team picks a team that they know won't be that good for homecoming! Should be some good incentive for the Pirates.

Homecoming crowd down. So, this one has the makings of a big Friday night battle.

This weeks AP Rankings has Powell Co. #8 and Garrard Co. #10 in 3A.
Big game - Big implications. Homecoming @ Garrard County, Powell Co. looking for a little payback after Garrard hung 70 on them in the playoffs 2 years ago....both teams looking to take over the driver's seat in the district. Should be a heck of a battle! Can't wait for Friday!!

How do u figure Garrad has played a tougher schedule? look at both teams opposition and their win loss records

POWELL beat PCC,the HAWKS didn't play well but POWELL STILL won. They do have a good defense.IMO POWELL WINS big.

Okay this has caused quite a bit of research. Garrard beat 4A Clay Co. which lost to Johnson Central, Marion Co, South Laurel, Whitley Co. Lost to Danville 22-14 which only loss came to 4A Boyle Co. who's only loss came to Highlands. Beat 2A Lloyd Memorial who hasn't proven anything. Beat Lincoln 5A who has lost to all 4 or 5A schools with winning records 3-2, 4-1, 5-1. Beat Bath Co. who hasn't proven themselves beating only East and West Carter with 1 win combined.
Powell beat Leslie 2A who hasn't proven anything other than beating winless teams. Beat PCC which had starters suspended 38-34 (still a big win). Beat Lewis who hasn't proven anything beating 1-4 Fleming, 1A Nicholas 4-1, and 2-3 Bath Co. Beat Madison Southern 5A who's only win came against 1A Lynn Camp. Beat Estill 1-4 who's big win was against 5-1 Morgan Co.
In my own opinion, Garrard has played against stronger opponents going by the schedules and who they have played and the teams which have played against their opponents. I can almost without doubt promise you that Powell has not played anyone that is remotely close to the level of Danville. Garrard played Danville and competed respectfully. With all this, this is why I think Garrard has played a tougher schedule. Powell has a very good thing going and if they beat or compete with Garrard then they have earned respect. Best of luck to both teams.

Don't be upset if Powell doesn't win big. They are just now getting into the meat of the schedule. I look for Powell to finish 8-2 with a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Fairview is absolutely no joke.

I wasnt arguing with you just wondered where u were getting your opinion. I know Fairview is for real as is Garrad co. I know Powell knows this too. They realize that they have to play every game like its their last. Because from here on out they will everybody's biggest game.

No argument, a good debate. I could be totally wrong, that's why they tee it up.
