Pike Central 4-1 (1-0 District) were idle last week, Lawrence County 3-4 (1-0 District) defeated Sheldon Clark 40-24 last week.
This is a very interesting game, as the winner of this game is likely favored to at least host a playoff game.

[SIZE=2]PCC strength is LC biggest weakness the Dawgs will have to be able to defend the pass and they have had trouble with that all year against some very good teams. Last week they moved some people around on D and it has helped LC has a strong crew of LB but IMO are still needing some work with the DB's. If LC can improve in the secondary this week then they have a shot of winning but they will also have to eliminate all the mistakes and penalty's. Good Luck to both and GO DAWGS.

This game is hard on me, being it is my two favorite teams in the state playing.
L.C. was the first team I started following in Kentucky and Pike Central has always been my fav team from Pike County, where I have gone to so many times over the years.
I hit the wrong selection when I voted.
I think my 2nd fav team P.C. defeats my fav team,47-26.
Boggs will throw for 335 yards and 4 scores.
The Dawgs will rush for 300 plus as a team.

PCC by a TD

PC by atleast 4 touch downs. Boggs will put up big numbers in the air. Their Defense will LC low on the scoreboard.

Boggs can't go a game without throwing an INT. LC Rolls. 45-20

This is an interesting matchup. Like it's already been said, LC's biggest weakness is Pass D, and Pike Central has one hell of a passing attack. LC will take away the run, which will take away the PA pass..but I believe Central has the better QB, O-line, Wide-outs, and a good enough defense to win this one.
Pike Central 44
Lawrence Co. 30
But that doesn't mean they'll lose. LC's gonna get rolled.

This will be the first game Pike County Central has played this year. They have beaten Greenup, Phelps and East Ridge which, I don't believe, have won a single game this year between the 3. Those inflated stats do not matter this time of year. Lawrence has been beaten by 2 5A schools and 1 4A and a very good 2A p'burg. Granted LC has had trouble defending the pass but it has been against very good QB's and very fast receivers. However, LC has learned from this and the DB's are now looking for interceptions instead of just trying to defend against the pass. We all know Boggs is a good athlete against much weaker foes, but the competition will be a little stiffer this week. LC's biggest weakness are penalties and have stalled more than one drive this year. Should be a good game but LC will win this one.

Phelps has a winning record, but they are a weak team for the Hawks to play. Should be a good game I think the hawks win by a touchdown

Central by 10.

I have noticed a lot of dislike for Mr. Boggs on this particular board and I wasn’t going to ask, but now its to the point that I have to ask. I ask because it seems that this gets taken to a higher level the better he plays.
I have never met him but as a fan and one who watched more high school football then anyone I know, I think this young man can flat out play. The numbers he puts up are against the teams he has to play and he does so with only one receiver who I. M. O. has the talent to play college football. That is not a shot at any of his receivers, they all work hard from what I have seen of them. I am just calling it as I see it.

Boggs is a good QB but PCC plays a very week schedule they get beat when they play the teams that count. Not to put boggs down but playing weak teams and doing well aint much, got to win when it counts. he has talent could play at the next level but can he do well against the teams who have the talent too?

PCC in this one.

Considering how LC has played against passing teams this year I have to go with Pike Central.

i guess like they did against Powell county?

Geez, this is going to be a tough one to choose. But I'm going with the Hawks by 2.
10-02-2011, 09:46 AM
PCC has had wins of Greenup Co...0-6, East Ridge 0-6, Phelps 4-2.. with their only wins over East Rdige , Jenkins, Twin Valley VA, and Montcalm WV.. they were Killed by 1A Fairview 61-14. LC is 3-4 but its losses were to 4A Ashland Blazer, 5A Perry County Central, 5A Letcher Co Central, and football Powerhouse.. Prestonsburg....In comparing LC's losses are better than any PCC win. Was the coach trying to set up a morale building schedule.. like Salmons did for LC in 2010? Just saying???
10-02-2011, 10:33 AM
PHS Forver you say PCC by 35??? I will give you a big "you have got to be kidding me" on that one. Where in the world do you come up with that one from? Bulldogs are beginning to show how physical they can be, the line played great on both sides friday night and the running backs ran hard.
Can someone tell me more about Pike Central?

To suggest that PCC will beat the Dawgs by 4-5 TD's is to compare them to Perry, Ashland and P-burg. I think not. As to wheither the Hawks will beat the Dawgs, we shall see. I can tell you that there has been some rather subtle but plesant changes to the "Air Defense" in the kennel. One thing you can be sure of is that the "Dawgs" are now off the porch. The key to this game just might be the Hawk defense against the run and how much clock the "Dawgs " can eat and also if Pike can stop the Pitbull and an OL that seems to be maturing. LC took their lumps from some very nice teams early. They may be starting to get the payoff. Expect the W because that is natural. Don't expect LC to quit because they are the "Dawgs".

Exactly what did he cost? I honestly hope you are not blaming all the drama that went down last year on a kid? If so, that is ridiculous. If anyone is to blame for anything that happened it would be adults, not those kids involved. So, they took the wins away on paper.. we all know who won those games. As far as these comments about inflating stats. Its hard to inflate stats when you only play 2-3 quarters in a game. You have to have some talent to get the numbers the kid is getting with not even full games under his belt. This kid has had no compliments or anything from the get go, it has nothing to do with KHSAA. It was going on before then. The comments about not playing any decent teams..yes they have played a few weak teams, Powell Co. was a tough game because they are an excellent team and they were underestimated going in. Last year they defeated P-Burg (most of which was on Boggs might I add) and Sheldon Clark..how those arent tough games I would like to know. The game against Belfry may have been a loss, but from what I seen Boggs still had a great game, and I do recall that you even had Belfry fans saying so on here. Stats do not lie, the kid didnt become the states reg. season leading passer for nothing. You can't inflate stats that much. Even then he was still playing 2-3 quarters a game. Give the kid a break and give credit where credit is due. Let's face it, if the kid didnt have talent he wouldnt be getting any interest from colleges. From what I have heard and read on here, there are some pretty big colleges looking at him, D1 schools from what I heard. He is definitely one of the most talented QB's that I have ever seen and in the mountains, and he has a bright future ahead of him. All I can say is I wish him nothing but the best, and if he reads these posts don't let the negative ones get to him, he has plenty of people in his corner and who are rooting for him to do well and believe in him. He is an excellent kid, and he even goes to talk to the football players at the middle and grade schools, which being someone who has seen this-those young kids love it, and they look up to him. That to me says something about him, not just the type of player that he is, but the well rounded kid that he is. Not many kids his age would be doing the same. I wish Boggs and all of the Hawks nothing but the best of luck in the future. Do your best, and don't let negativity get you down. Good Luck Hawks!!

Gonna take the dawgs in this one.... LC 34-28

With all due respect to Pike Central, there is no way anyone on here can say the Hawks have the same athletes as Perry Central, or Ashland. Yeah they do have a really good quarterback in Boggs but can he win the game himself? At this point in the season and with the weather changing it seems to favor the Dawgs more then it does the Hawks. The Bulldogs for the most part have done a great job of protecting the football minus one last week. The more physical team should win this one.. No one can say the Hawks are going to win by 3 or 4 td's.
