Clay looks much stronger at the plate and on the mound than most people expected. They hit the ball solid all through their lineup.

I didn't get to go to this scrimmage, not enough time to get there after work. Sounds like Clay Co bats were hot. Did Somerset make a lot of errors? Was it pitching? Just curious.

Wilson made one throwing error to first, but other than that Clay was just hitting the ball solid and finding gaps. Somerset's pitchers seem to have pretty good stuff and both were even getting the curve ball in for strikes. Clay has worked really hard on its hitting in the off season and it seems to have paid off. Clay also made the plays on defense with 1 error and no runs through 3 innings for Somerset. Clay only batted twice.

Thank you for the information. Good luck to Clay Co this season.

Speaks started and struggled to locate his fastball. I think he walked 3 in one plus inning. His velocity was good and his curveball looked good. He's only thrown a couple of times so far with the late start from basketball. Clay County only hit a couple of balls really hard. One was a great job of staying back on a curve and hitting a line drive the opposite way and the other was a long drive off the center field fence. There were a couple of 4 hoppers that snuck through and a blooper to left that should have been caught. Ehrsam came on in relief and looked fine. We looked flat overall but nothing to be concerned about.

Clay County did look very solid. They are well coached and should have a nice season.
