Black Bears?
#1
All has been quiet on this site regarding HC Baseball...quietly 9-1 after posting wins in Myrtle Beach, SC. I have had my hopes up and dashed before, and I know North, South, M'boro, Clay, Corbin, etc present a formidable region, but HC has a chance for a special season and a long tournament run.

Anyone want to post news and notes on the Bears?

I have saw them twice with both Boggs and Bond on the mound. From what I saw, they did not look to be as good as Corbin, South, North, Middlesboro, or Clay. They have a nice team, the others just look to be more solid on defense and at the plate.

Did HC not play today?

The black bears are alive and well, it looks like they have won 10 or 11 games and from what I hear, their pitching staff is growing up by leaps and bounds! Getting quality pitching from other kids in addition to Tyler boggs and James Bond. Sounds like their trio of Sophomore pitchers (Tyler Cornett, Connor Leisge and Scott Bailey) are providing the bears with several innings of very solid pitching. I believe they competed very impressively down at Myrtle Beach this year picking up at least 2 and maybe 3 wins down there against some good competition.

I have noticed that the last 3 or 4 topics including HC game scores, there has been 0 posts or comments regarding the games or other topics? Where are all the supporters? Give us some info, let us know whats going on with the Black Bears!! Go Bears!!!

I think they are 11-2 going into the district game Monday. It's the best start HCHS has had. They have scored double digits seven or eight times and have got solid pitching so far.

I think you'd probably put North, Clay, South and maybe Middlesboro ahead at this point. You can't overlook Corbin, especially considering they've owned Harlan County in the postseason, but they did not look as good as HCHS in the games I saw.

After those six, the region appears to drop off quite a bit.

HC is fine and dandy. Playing these games at Myrtle Beach will help them in the district and the long run. This team is really starting to mesh together and beginning to play to their potential. I look for a strong season and a solid tournament run. Their trio of sophomores will make the difference in their region crown hopes.

Congradulations to Braxton Fields of HC ! He signed with Georgetown College.

Yep...congrats to Mr. Fields. Also, hats off to Stephen Dozier. Great kid suffering tough injury that will end his senior year.

The Bears are having a great season so far. They are coming together and playing some solid ball. Congrats to Braxton Fields signing at Georgetown. Stephen Dozier's senior season sadly has come to an end. He will continue his baseball career at the next level. He will be signing with UPIKE Bears.

Corbin handled M'boro recently. Could that mean HC is a favorite in 52nd? Just asking based on HDE saying HC looked better than Corbin. I realize much has to do with pitching matchups on any given day.

not true

The Black Bears are getting better with every game, the hitting is starting to come around and the pitching is one of the best in the region. I am excited to see the matchup with Midd. Just think the Bears are the better team.

They are getting better. They should take the district again this year and make a solid run at the region.

Looks like the bears have a little tougher schedule coming up in the next few weeks. I think they will handle it with no problem though.
