Prestonsburg drops 3 games at Lafayette
#1
Pburg failed to pick up a win at Lafayette over the weekend:

Lost 14-1 to Lafayette (10-3)
Lost 6-4 to Trinity (6-9)
Lost 7-5 to Calloway County (13-2)

The Blackcats fall to 9-6 on the season.

Keep your heads up Blackcats!!!

Wouldn't worry too much about it. It's going to do nothing but make the program better by playing these type of teams.

Do you know who was pitching for Prestonsburg in these games?

The only game that was a blowout was the Lafayette game. Trey Stapleton pitched, and Lafayette's hitting and some spotty defense by the Blackcats contributed mightily to the score.

The Calloway County game could have easily been a win. Adam Crisp started the game and Adam Griffith closed. Calloway's defense was superb.

The Trinity game was a great game. Freshman Jarin Hall pitched the first 6 innings. At the top of the 6th, the score was 3-3. However Trinity exploded for 3 runs off Hall in the top of the 6th. Adam Griffith came and retired the 2 batters he faced, and then Cody Chaffin closed.

Lafayette is a great team. Loaded with talent. Calloway County is a great team also, and Trinity is, well, Louisville Trinity.

Overall a nice showing for the Blackcats. They were in all the games, and could have/should have won the last 2. Prestonsburg lost alot of senior leadership from last year, and they are having to improve in that area this year. Games and tournaments like this only serve to help in that regard.

This team is still finding itself as far as pitching, roles, baserunning, etc. (I believe we had 3 baserunners picked off yesterday in the final 2 games). The talent is there for Prestonsburg, as evidenced by the back to back 15th region All "A" Championships. It is just a matter of every player doing what they need to do and fulfill their roles on this team.

The Blackcats will be better following these games...

Calloway County and Lafayette are usually great teams. I wouldn't worry about these losses much, should only make the Blackcats Better and help them make a run at the Region

Three very good teams. Preseason all 3 were ranked in the top 25 (not sure ranking now). Sounds like the Cats were competitive (accept for Lafayette) and coulda/shoulda won 1 maybe 2 of the three games. Simpkins has definately got this team going in the right direction. Keep up the good work guys.
