Someone correct me if I wrong. Coach matney said on his talk show 2 night he had 2 all state wrestlers at the corners against Ironton. My question is. Do u have to wrestle to play defense at JC or any other postion! I knew a heck of a lot of great football players that didn't wrestle. Thise kidds are great wrestlers nothing against them. But this is football season!! Yes wrestling make u get n shape and better balance. But Dam it ends in Feb/March!!

Highlands has never had a wrestling program!

I wish we had Wrestling at Harlan County....I think it is great for football players....I think Coach Ovie Canady would be a great coach.

I cant believe Im reading this....... Shakin' my head.

JJ Jude was a 2X state wrestling champion. I didn't hear anybody complain about him being a wrestler when he was breaking state rushing records. JC had 3 football players in the state wrestling finals last season Ryan Harlow (who played D-Line at JC) won a state wrestling title at Heavyweight. When Darren Gamble was the wrestling coach, I know several of his wrestlers played football for Bill Musick and most of those guys were on that 11-1, first-ever district title team. Not because they were on the wrestling team. But because they can tackle better because of wrestling and usually stay in great shape because of how physically demanding wrestling is.

Just because your kid/grand-kid/neighbors kid/nephew/cousin/or yourself didn't get to start-play this past Friday, don't give wrestlers a hard time........ Because I am a former JC wrestler...... and I take up for my own.
