Tough loss for the devils. Congrats Rams.

Raceland had their way. Game was never in doubt. Score is closer than it should had been.

I'm glad Raceland closes the series out with a win, but I was less than impressed with their performance.

2 INTs, 2 fumbles lost. And a lack of O-line blocking in the second half.
The devils came out ready to fight their way back. We came out just the opposite.
Got to play lots better up front and hold on to the ball to get past the second and third round!

Good turn out tonight from both fans. Hate to see the series end this way. Raceland had the Devils number all night. Raceland will have bragging rights for a long time coming.:igiveup::igiveup: Russell needs to get ready for playoff and utilize QB Evans more. Roll him out right side and let the him pass to open the running game. Russell is just to predictable. You GOT to change it up.

Russell played hard, just out matched. Coach Maynard called off the dogs a little early, He has alot of respect for his old coach!
10-26-2012, 11:38 PM
Russell handed the first quarter to them with poor special teams play and turnovers. Raceland started two first quarter possessions inside the Russell 20 yard line.

Saw on the update thread that Raceland got out to a 19-0 lead. Sounds like Russell outplayed them after that. Can't dig a huge hole.

Good win for Rams. They are marching towards the big rematch.

The Ams defensive front is very good.
A bunch of turnovers from both teams.
Russell had some big plays but struggled to move the ball consistently.

Both of Russells td's came after huge plays. they could not keep the chains moving. Raceland really played the 2nd half content. They went and scored after Russells first td to assure a victory.

Game was never in doubt. Raceland should have had over 30 points by halftime if not for turnovers and Some sloppy play. Russell had some big plays that let them hang around, but was never really a threat to come back.
Hope The Devils do well in the playoffs. RAMS now gearing up for a deep playoff run.

I honestly think Maynard laid back in the play calling. A few scoring drives negated by turnovers, but more so i think the score is indicative of play calling. Russell made good adjustments in the 2nd half. Raceland came out like gang busters out of the gate. If thats the Raceland that comes out the next 4 weeks they will put themselves in position to make it to Bowling Green. That and STOP FUMBLING THE FOOTBALL AND THROWING ILL ADVISED PASSES INTO DOUBLE AND TRIPLE COVERAGE.

I agree the game was never in doubt, but it seems a lot of you ram posters are always talking about how the rams should have won this game or that game if they hadn't fumbled as much or threw interceptions or hadn't had all those penalties. All this does is enforce the fact that a good team that's ready to make a deep run isn't making all those mistakes. I could be wrong but I predict a short lived playoff run for the rams. It will be longer than Russell's, they're just bad, no team speed, poor line play, poor game planning. No matter the team or score they run the same predictable offense at you. And regardless of the success their having, they keep grinding it out even though the same thing that didn't work in the first 3 quarters is somehow going to work in the 4th when their down 3-4 touchdown

I agree. Raceland had a much better team this year and the score showed it. But to think this Raceland team can play the way it has played all season and make a deep run is doubtful. Can they do it? Sure they can. Will they do it? No in my opinion. If you are doing it against a weaker team than a good team will eat it up. I also hope none of the games come down to a long field goal because the current kicker has no powe at all. I do like the one who kicks off. He's a beast!!!!!

Congrats Raceland

Raceland will be in the regional final with the rematch against Fairview.
Russell could make a run that deep as well.
You guys are depressing.

I don't think the play calling as conservative. Maybe taking a knee at the end of the half but you guys have criticized TJ for that before.

Special teams play for Russell is awful.
Offensively they ran the spread stuff more last night than they have all year.
Hopefully Googie is stronger next week and Stevens gets cleared to play.

Raceland has only lost two games, & in both games they had six and five turnovers respectively against good teams. They're 8-2, so they obviously can make a deep run in the playoffs. If they are healthy and can keep the turnovers down they can play with anyone.
I agree, the turnovers are a problem, but now it's a new season and a renewed focus....one & done if you lose. Most of the RAM's mistakes are correctible, & yes, it's a concern, but I think you will see a more polished team after this week.
Agree with FBALL...i think you'll see a RAM-eagle Regional final. I also think if Russell sticks to what they do best they can make a run in the playoffs. Running the spread and Trips formations is something you have to work on consistently all season, and if you don't mistakes happen, as we saw last night. As long as the Devils make ingame ajustments and stick to their offense, they can make a decent run in the playoffs.

Yes it is depressing, Russell hasn't beaten a quality team in the last 4-5 years in the reg season or in the post season. Maybe I'm wrong, if they have please refresh my memory. And most of their playoff loses have been complete and embarrising loses.

Give it a couple of years and we will be back up. These things are cyclical unless you recruit well.

I'm very optimistic about the future, but to state facts about the past isn't being pessimistc. It's not like Russell haven't had any playmates during this so called down time, I just don't think this coaching staff has done a good job at making the necessary adjustments to be as successful as they could have been. Their inability to generate any offense against a good team has been lacking. When your defense is on the field the majority of the time it usually isn't pretty.
