From what I am hearing, sources say Mayfield's Jonathon Jackson is down to Murray State and Eastern Ky
02-01-2013, 01:04 AM
Im surprised Jackson wasnt picked up by a D1
WKU would have been a close fit, but Petrino seems to be going for the top recruits and Juco players.
I could have seen him playing in Conference USA somewhere.

From what I hear Jeffery Canady will decide between Air Force and EKU don't really have a feel for where he is going to go. All I know was he enjoyed his trip to Air Force last week and he enjoyed the trip to EKU.

i knew i havent heard of anything on ASTATE NATION, about him in a while for Arkansas State..

seems like EKU is maybe going to land several good players from the state..

If things hold up, EKU could have a very nice signing day. Jackson from Mayfield, Brown from John Hardin, Messer from Belfry (unless UK did something deserving)
with all that being said, I'm not a huge fan of signing day. it's a nice ceremony for the kids, the parents and their school, but espn has taken some of the fun out of it

Just curious, but why would that even be a decision if both offers were legit?
One is a good school. The other is a school that, forget D1 football, but a degree from there sets you up for life. 26 years old (by the time he goes his 4 years of undergrad, then 4 years of service duty), and you don't apply for jobs. You walk in; say you want a job, show your degree from THE Air Force Academy. Hired.
I love to see football in our state grow, but my goodness, getting an offer from the Air Force is the true meaning of 'opportunity of a lifetime' in every essence of the word (or phrase, to be exact).

I agree 100% with you on this and yea the offers are legit, I have talk to Jeff before his visit to Air Force and he told me his pros and cons about both schools, he does understand what it means getting a chance to go to Air Force but he wasn't sure if he wanted to serve in the military or not. And lets face it the military isn't for everyone and it may not be for him either. That is up to him to decide not you,me, or anyone else. I would like to see him go to Air Force myself but if he don't that's fine too, I told him to go where he was going to be happiest at not where everyone is telling where he should go, cause in the end it's his life and no one else can live it for him.

the service is not for everyone,i was in there over 20 yrs and i loved it, but SO GLAD, i am not in there now, with all the changes amd rules that have come down, where u have no right to say anything, and u have to put up with the dont ask dont tell crap,i would suggest to a stranger,DONT go in the service, its only going get worse...they can get an education anywhere and wont have to put up with the mess that is now the US Military..

You're spot on there with everything. Lord knows the military life wasn't for me, either, but then again, I never had the opportunity. :biglmao:
I think you have the option of transferring out without having to give the 4 years after graduation, don't you? I have a good friend of mine who actually went to West Point for a year, then realized that wasn't the route for him either, and transferred out.
In a way, he could kill two birds with one stone by going that route if he chooses. Pick Air Force, give it a go for a year or two and if not for him, I'm sure EKU (or other 1-AA schools) would still be a very legit possibility.
Fine player he is, and even a finer young man from what I've heard. But, just having the offer on the table from Air Force speaks of his character. He must be the total package. :notworthy

I know that there is a certain amount of time you can go and leave without having to pay anything back, but after so many years you have to pay it back, and I do know for 4 years is over 400,000 that would have be payed back to dear ole Uncle Sam.
