Has Breathitt County participated in any 7-7's this summer? How have they looked? I know they are a couple of years away from fielding a "good" team, but they are supposed to be better than last year

I havent seen them at any this year.

I had heard that they went to one and lost a couple games but looked good, but I cannot confirm that. The 7-7 that they were in they lost in the championship game, whatever that means.

7-7 don't mean much when it comes crunch(game) time.

BurntTires Wrote:7-7 don't mean much when it comes crunch(game) time.No kidding, not sure where your statement is aimed but 7-7's do mean something as far as determining the quality of WR's, QB's and DB's IMO. People sure made a big deal of Prestonsburg doing well at the 7-7's so I guess your quick response to the Breathitt thread is just .............., well I do not think this is even worth the argument.

7on 7 is a really good thing for getting your D ready for the zone. It gives you a alot of good work on your cov.3 or cov.4 zones. Alot of teams like Russell who primarily run the ball like to get alot of DB work in 7 0n 7's.

That may be possible. I hope it is not another mud-pit though. That is the only way they win that game.

Oh I dont think so, It goes both ways in the mud, both teams have to play in it!
Lawrence Co was just the better team that night, I bet I have watched that game 100 times since then.

Should be a good game this season also. I have family that live in Louisa and I hope to make the trip to Eastern Kentucky to watch the game.

I'd say Breathitt will prob. end up somewhere round 5-6 this season. A little better than last year. Wins in the dist. over Knott and Cawood. Middlesboro should win the dist. this season, Leslie lost alot but their tailback is back who rushed for over 200 yards against Breathitt last season at Breathitt, Games at Leslie this year. I think the honey bowl against lou. western could get ugly, Coach P reston told me their concentrating on D-D-D-D-D-D! since all of his offense returns, beat Breathitt in a high scorer last season 66-44, score was 50 to 12 at half, Western put in alot of young kids in the 2nd half Breathitt's starters made a sort-of-a comeback against Westerns jv. No excuse for Breathitt losing that thing in 97 to Lawrence. Breathitt had a 28-6 lead at half, Lawrence never quit and whipped Breathitt's ass in the 2nd half.
All Holcomb does any more is rely on the deep ball, 4 verticles. Look for Breathitt to finish 3rd in their dist, I dont know though Knott has their entire backfield back and their tailback Owens is really good.

The stars were aligned last year and Leslie finally did not get blown out. Breathitt will finish 2nd behind Middlesboro IMO. There is MHS and BHS, then there is a big drop off to Leslie, Knott, and Cawood. Breathitt's coaches know what they are doing and know that what they did last year did not work, and they will adjust. As far as the Lawrence County game in concerned, the play-calling changed after halftime and got ultra-conservative, that mixed with a hungry Bulldog team is why Breathitt lost.

Intelligent Pimp Wrote:MiddlesboroI agree, KCC should have a good year. They return important skill players on offense, but they lost alot of experience on the line. I look for the game with Leslie to be closer than usual, but the game between KCC and Cawood will be the one that is a more realistic win for KCC. If they can win that one, they make the playoffs IMO.

Breathitt Should be a better than 4-6 team this yr and i think will get into the playoffs with the 2nd spot...but i was wondering does anyone have a pic of their state rings from 02

Breathitt plays a difficult non-district schedule, and if they can pick up a win or two there they will be better than .500, but if they start out 0-4 like last season, it will be another 4-6 campaign IMO.

Reasons being why? Breathitt should still bring a talented and football smart team into Louisa to battle the Dawgs.
By the way, that 97 game was amazing.

easternkysportsguru Wrote:Reasons being why? They have alot of improvement on defense to do because last year they were beaten so badly on defense that there was nothing there as far as energy on offense. I guess I will be in better shape to make a prediction on this game after the first couple of games I hear Breathitt playing.

Sounds good, I am not real sure to what Lawrence will bring to the table this fall. Have to wait and see like everyone else.

Breathitt only has 4 seniors this season. They will be an improved team, but they still will not be very good IMO. Depending on how good Leslie is this season, they should finish 2nd/3rd in the district IMO. I hope I am wrong

I loved seeing highlights of the Bobcats when they were making a tear through everyone. Kind of sad to see them on a down note, but with the great coaching staff and dedicated fans, they will be back.

does anyone know how the bobcats did last night in there scrimmage?
