Mark Evans New Coach at Mercy
#1
Mercy AD Mark Evans has named himself head softball coach at Mercy.

Here is the story from the CJ:

Mark Evans, who stepped down as Mercy Academy's basketball coach in April but remains the athletic director, is now also the school's head softball coach.

Evan announced Tuesday that he will replace Greg Vorbrink, who resigned after leading the Jaguars to a third-place finish in the state tournament in his only season.

"The bottom line is that I wanted to keep some consistency in the program," Evans said. "I didn't want the kids to have to go through another coach. They are with me, but I'm a little different."

Evans was Mercy's basketball coach for 16 seasons, winning three regional titles and the state championship in 2010. His coaching career actually started in softball, though. He led Mercy to slow-pitch state titles in 1987 and '89.

"I love my softball program," he said.
