Did not see that coming brother. Sorry.

Not mad at all. Disappointed for the boys. The kicker made a 45 yard field goal before the half and missed an XP to tie the game. There can be a lot of finger pointing but in the end, Boyle County was simply out played and out coached. Have to tip your hats off to Mercer.

Mercer deserved to win tonight.
#8
I'll give Mercer credit they had a good game plan and they played thier butts off but the officiating has left a such a bad taste in my mouth and i never thought i'd say this but i'll be rooting for Lex Cath next week.IMO this was one game Boyle didn't deserve to lose but they couldn't over come the officals and 3 TO'S BEEN A GREAT SEASON AND I'M SURE PROUD OF 0UR YOUNG REBELS.

Boyle County had 125 yards in penalty yards, is that true? I know Boyle County gave Mercer County 43 yards in penalties on one drive.

What a good night to be a football fan.
Big time BGR fanbases losing left and right.

Yes this is true at one point Boyle had 12 penalties and Mercer had 1.i'm not taking anything away from Mercer they played a great game but at least two of thier TD drives and thier field goal drive were aided by penalties the one TD drive was like a 55 yard drive and 45 was penalties against Boyle.and the missed extra point at the end of the game from my point of view looked good and everyone sitting around me felt the same way but thats how the ball bounces.

Boyle County had the snowball effect going on tonight. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.
#15
Congrats Mercer on a great win penalties killed Boyle all night.
#16
Wow!!! Never seen this coming. Congrats to Mercer and on to visit Lex Cath.

Penalties, turnovers, lack of effort, no focus, no passing game. I've been a long time fan of Boyle and that might be the worst game I've seen them play in 15 years.

Most of the penalties were good calls, too.

Mercer also played a good football game.

Dang good win

Watched this game and it was one of the best I have seen lately.

As far as the penalties go you and i watched two different games.

Definitely the most surprising score I have seen all season!
#22
Only problem I had with the penalties was the inconsistency of the calls for BOTH teams. I don't believe the refs had a vendetta out for Boyle County or anything crazy like that but they were certainly inconsistent. Regardless, the better team that night won.

Color me surprised.

The problem I had was with the attitude the White Hat had! I didn't care for the way he smarted off and treated Larry French. Larry over the past 30 years has earned the respect from around the state and you get somebody that's just a smart :moon: over the game. There was no need in that! As lopsided as the flags where, the inadvertent whistle just added fuel to the fire. Mercer onside kicked and Boyle recovered. One of the refs must have blown his whistle when he thought a Mercer player recovered it. Mercer got to kickoff again and Boyle lost a ton of field position.

All of this had nothing to do as to why Boyle lost. Mercer out played Boyle and deserved the win.
#25
Completely agree! Totally Un called for.
#26
Boyle is still young and this can happen to a young team. Congrats to Mercer, another shocker.

Just being curious...........but exactly how young was Boyle county this year?
#28
Not sure of the numbers but they started several freshman and sophmores this year the QB Robbins is a sophmore they should really improve over the next couple of years.

The problem i had with the penaltys was that the 2 pass interfearance calls on Boyle in the endzones were both bad calls both were on 4th down plays that led to 10 points for mercer and mercer had a 54 yard drive for a td 45 of those yards were penaltys against Boyle one of those came on a 4th down play that kept the drive alive it was because a Boyle player said something after the play was over. Coach French questoned the call and old white hat gave him a 15 yard penalty to add insult to injury.after a score Mercer tryed an onside kick Boyle recoverd at the 48 and after a lengthy discussion mercer got to rekick and Boyle lost 28 yards in field posistion.its been a very long time since i've seen a game called so one sided and i hope i never see one like it again.

Who were the Freshman starters. According to KHSAA stats turned in by school no 9th grader played in more that 5 games.
I know they only had about 7 seniors and a good Soph class but the stats also show leading rusher #20 senior. Leading receivers 27, 3 both seniors and top 3 tacklers 20, 27, 94 all seniors.
Not quantity in senior class but going to lose some quality!!!
