Middlesboro Yellow Jackets 2014
#1
ive made this thread before but it died off a little too early. We are looking for a undefeated or 9-1 record with wins over Bell, Pikeville, and Union Virginia. With a team with everyone coming back for a 3rd year 20 seniors something is gonna happen. Repeat at district, Region?, or possibly a State Title? opinions

Jackets should be good. They will miss some of the Srs on the line but will be good at skill postions. I think them and Somerset will fight it out again.
#3
I agree, Prater is the only loss on the line, but he was very good. Poindexter will be missed on defense more than offense , but he was very good as well. Foister stepped in at QB and done a great job. He was a very good utility player and QB! Everyone else is back with the addition of a LB transfer from TN. Also Stephney will be back from Knoxville.
#4
get in line behind DeSales, Caldwell, and NCC. All three will be tough next year.
#5
If that is the line we fall in then OK. That is a strong line.
#6
Middlesboro should be #1 in Dist. With that being said don't count Somerset out. They will be young. Don't forget they have owned this Dist. for 4 year and will be a hard out when the play-offs roll around. They had 25 freshmen in wt. room early in the week and this group is very skilled and talented.
#7
Pburg will be tough out in region.
#8
Is this Middlesboro's best group of seniors?
I know their junior high team was weak for a couple of years, so that could be the current sophomores and freshmen.
#9
HDE 20 seniors. You love pointing out the couple of years the MS was down. Last year MS was very strong and won the conf. Just so you can use for future ref.
#10
Middlesboro won a share of the district, and somerset should be down, but lets not forget that somerset has only 1 loss in the region (Danville last year) since moving to 2a. Should be a good year for the jackets nonetheless.

Twenty seniors next fall or this past year?
I don't have a dog in any fight with Middlesboro unless Middlesboro drops to Class A or moves up to 5A. I was just pointing out that they had two weak classes. When you don't like the truth, I guess that makes it seem like the person relating it is happy. I saw them lose to a pretty bad Class A team two years ago though and was surprised.
I saw last year's eighth-grade team play a couple of times, including part of the championship game. It was a pretty athletic team, but they barely won at Evarts. They did beat a good Cumberland team though, so I guess I saw them at their worst at Evarts.

Next fall. Two years ago they were all freshman and at the end of that year at least 6 were starting.

Our MS program has really turned around with Coach Thompson. We have had some issue with numbers due to Rec. League. We now have that straight.

As far as the truth goes, we lived it, so look at all your post about Middlesboro and read what you write. In most you bring up that our MS or JV was very weak. I just wanted to let you know that last year our MS was very good, and next year looks better. Just so you know.

Good chance we could be single A very soon.

I am sorry when I wrote MS, I mean Middle School.

I was surprised Middlesboro was as good last year after seeing them play Harlan the year before and it seemed like they had been down for years in the middle school. I was wrong about the high school team last year. It's rare, but it happens Smile
The problem I have is the fans of some schools/programs like to tell each other how great they are going to be, and they get upset when I bring some reality into the discussion. That usually happens more in basketball.
I reported several times on Middlesboro's eighth-grade football team last year, including wins over Cumberland and Evarts.
#15
They actually beat Harlan the last two years. They beat Harlan with sophs when Harlan had the good QB kid,and all their seniors. Now all those kids are going to be seniors. I get what you are saying. I have not said anything about winning titles, but we should be pretty good next year, much better than this past year.
#16
Yeah, I thought Harlan was a little lucky to win in 2011 at Middlesboro and Middlesboro seemed to catch some breaks in 2012. It was no contest last year.
#17
Middlesboro can replace Prater on the OL but will be a little difficult on the defensive side. Poindexter was outstanding and will be missed but i honestly think they will replace them and could make a run through the region and even make a state championship appearance. they have a very very strong and aggressive line and fast strong skill players

He better have one for the superintendents benefit.

Yea if they don't win atleast Region Supt will have alot of explaining to do.
#23
If Somerset can't win the Dist. I hope Middlesboro does. With that said, I don't think they will win Dist.

I've heard that several times over the last four or five years.
There are only 32 Class A schools in Kentucky. I just don't see Middlesboro getting that small. How close were they in the last alignment?

They have the 9th smallest male enrollment in 2A and have 38 more boys than the largest 1A school. I agree that it is very unlikely Middlesboro will drop to 1A.

Don't see that happening.

Somerset losing 20 seniors will hurt them. Middlesboro comes away with a district and region title
#28
The team no one is talking about is LCA. With the injuries they had last year it hurt, they will be much improved. Danville is a question mark, Middlesboro when the dust settles and they find out who is playing and who is not, will be the time to see if they can win district. Somerset will be down but dangerous.

Middlesboro can't replace the players they lost. Somerset has the resources of players that are in the system the Boro don't.

The Jackets are usually tough year in year out.
