Some speculate who will start for the pirates at QB next season . I would have to go with Rose he runs faster and doesn't throw as many interceptions. Plus, his dad may become coach.

Coach Jones told me all year that Billy Rice and John King were the only leaders he had period. Coach Jones also said Billy always comended his O-line.
If coach Jones returns(If that is and by his choice) and B-ball doesn't steal Billy away, Billy Rice will be the starting qb. Use some common sense, Billy started as a soph. to get him ready for the future. No way Rose's dad will be the coach, If I'm not mistaken he has no college hours. 64 is required just to be an assistant.
Rose is a good athelete and can help out in a couple years but with Powell county averaging 3 to 4 kids showing up in the weight room weekly, It really wont matter now will it.

Coach Jones has never got any support and if he's smart and I know he is, He'll move on before Powell county completely destroys his coaching career.

yea this thread should be deleted .. people at shcool think that its funny to put this stuff on here .. i dont remember getting down on my lineman .. i love my lineman .. would trust ne 5 other guys over the five i got now to protect me .. but if coach rose does become coach .. im going to montgomery co .. so go ahead a get this thread off here .. its a joke

The kid has skill but I see Bill Rice starting until he graduates. The numbers in the weight room needs to grow exponentially and I hope that happens. Powell being in a new district might make some heads being raised when they read the box scores on Saturday in the herald and see Rice passing for 200 yards+ not Rose.

Big Bill, Your future is in football buddy. Nothing wrong with b-ball but you have great football potential. Your a ok highschool b-ball player, But you have the tools to be an outstanding football player. If you get a scholarship, It will be for football and not being in the weight room is going to put you right back at the same level you were last year. Football is your ride, your ticket, Dont mess it up.

no way let me repeat my self no way will rose start over rice at the qb positon next year....rice never put down his lineman he was always pickin up his time and i juss dont think rose has the exsperience to play that position he should play rb

Everybody listen up. Rose WILL NOT be starting over Rice next year. He's not good enough. Rice is a great QB. The only reason Rose was as good is because he was like 1 year older than everybody else. Rice will be great. Watch and see.

I think either QB has a good shot at it, from what I have seen...they both have been runnin and throwin the ball extremely well lately. But like CoachB says, we'll see what happens in the weightroom and at camp this summer right??

yea i agree ... an administrator should get rid of this post b/c it's just going to cauz a problem between these two kids ... but while its still open ill post my opinion ... i think that rose isnt ready for qb or does he have the frame but he can push billy and the backup wesley branham and remind them that he is still there and that would make everyone better ... jesse does have a shot at being the qb in the future but he needs to throw some and get with rice and work on his throwing ability ... a team works together and last year rice helped wesley alot ... so please dont get on here and start stuff between these two this year ... they've been getting along like bros lately

Who will BECOME powells qb ?? what kind of question is that ... you all act like there is a tossup for qb .. how can rice BECOME the qb if he already is and was last year ... that is the problem with powell co ... if someone is doing good or did something good, someone will find a way to put them down or discourage them .. how many other schools have this problem?? I'm sure in other schools if someone does something good they get a congrats and keep it up .. in powell co. .. you either get a you got lucky or you still suck as your congrats

rose will be the quater back, for freshman and jv, backup for varsity. but bill rice will be starting quarter back everygame, no matter who the coach is. coach jones loved the way bill done things on the field. to be his first year, he did make some mistakes, but knowing bill he wont make them again. rose is too immature to be a starting high school quarterback. but bill still has to work very hard to keep it thoe. dont let down cause of basketball and other things, after the season hit the weight room, make it a no contest of whos going to be quarterback next season.

Rice is pretty tall kid and all but he didn't seem to have any speed at all in the game I saw. I've asked around and evryone says the Rose kid can flat out fly.

yeah but last time i checked being a quaterback was all about being fast....plus Rice is bigger and probally has alot more strength....plus Rice isnt as slow as people on here are putting him as...like i said before no way will rose start over rice next year....END OF DISCUSSION

I dont know how many of you know jesse rose and have ever seen the intensity that kid plays with, but he is one kid that i would love to have on my team. i think whoever the new coach is, its going to depend on what kinda of offense he runs which will depend on what kinda QB he needs.

yea but billy is an all around athlete .. he would play qb in just about any offense bcauz not of his athleticism but hes smartness and decision making .. jesse dont have billy beat in all categorys just basically speed... if he was so slow or not athletic then y did he play safety last year .. imo he had some of the greatest hits i've seen in a while and several scoring saves/rundowns .. last year powell experimented with option plays and plays were the qb made reads and billy could change the play at the line .. he read the defenses and always knew what was open .. it was sucessful when they did these things but problems with other players about not getting enough touches or playing time powell didnt do this much .. he is just a natural qb and he worked and studied for 2 or 3 hours after practice .. him and matt sebey were the only two to go and watch another opponet play .. if your doubting billys athleticism then go to a powell co boys baskteball jv game .. this should change some minds .. or just wait until football starts .. you all will see .. quit hating on my boy .. hes a great qb thats going to get better

rice would have done wonders last yaer if everyone stopped complaining, and was focused on one task. i know they were players that wanted to win, but some could have cared less it seemed. rice will be qb next year, starting qb, and starting his senior year if he sticks with it. rose will be starting after rice is gone, if powell dont find another lost player wondering the halls in the school.
