well lets get it started on who wins and why?this game being played on sunday because WKU is playing on Sat at home.Belfry likes like they got the turnovers corrected and are rolling on offense and playing lights out again on defense.Belfry there for the 6th straight year, and after losing the 1st three are going for a 3 peat on sunday.i say it will probally be like all the finals they have played in the last 6 yrs except for the 1st one of this run(where its close either way)Belfry by a touchdown..go BIG RED

Lex Cath had to get through a heck of a region to get there. Boyle and Central could have either one been there.

Think Lexington Catholic is going to run into a buzz saw called Belfry.

Computers call Belfry a 1pt favorite. Lex Cath came through a tough path and having watched them beat Boyle earlier in the year I think they should be a tough opponent. Great 3 QBs deep and a heck of a receiver. The question they have to answer is the same one everyone else has failed to answer how do you stop the Belfry Hydra?

Belfry played one of the best schedules in the state.

Get your popcorn ready...this one should be an awesome matchup.
Two polar opposite teams..
Can Belfry contain LexCath's big play ability? Belfry's secondary has been their biggest question mark and the Knights can chuck it with the best of them and has 3A's best Wide Receiver.
Can LexCath hang with Belfry between the tackles? Knights aren't exactly the steel curtain against the run and Belfry's Offense is playing unbelievably smooth. Belfry has possibly the best RB in 3A.
This one is way too close to call...looking forward to researching LexCath further.

I'll take Lexington Catholic for the win.

Teams that ran right at Catholic seem to give them trouble. I will take Belfry by 2 scores

QB#2, best player on the field for Catholic. Blazer, and fights for yards like crazy. He's a lightweight though.

They moved their receiver to QB, I see. Interesting. He's fast. He doesn't like to get hit. None of them do, from what I saw. Might be more of a running threat, but unless Perry made a sudden eureka, he would have been ahead of Brumbaugh and Fagot in the depth chart from day one.

I think this one will be a war. Belfry is accustomed to those type of finals now. I therefore feel like if Lex Cath is going to win, they have got to play up tempo and get a good lead and hold on. I think if Belfry gets into the usual slugfest at BG, the will hold the confidence of being there so much lately and that will carry them to the win.

Would love to hear insight from multiple Johnson Central fans on this matchup.
I'd also like to encourage Belfry fans to not be overconfident. LexCath has not only changed QBs, but we learned in 2007 we can't trust anything when it comes to comparing scores. Central lost 48-29 to a Johnson Central team we handled pretty easily that year... didn't work out for us so well in the state finals.

I like belfry in this one ...keep the title in the mountains

No predictions just yet. From a little I've heard and seen Lex. Cath will have to throw in order to move the ball. And if they have trouble with other teams between the tackles it's going to be a long night for them with Belfry. From what a seen last night at the game Belfry beat Corbin with 3 or 4 plays out of the old play book. Haywood's play book is deep but if you can't stop the fullback he will run him all night. They have 2 fullbacks that can gain 5 to 10 a carry. And with the way this line blocks they can bust out for 50 to 60yrds a carry. Lol

I think the "Cupcake" schedule helps Belfry. Beating 4 teams that are playing for state championships. 1A Pikeville, 2A Newport Central, 4A Johnson Central, and Tenn 4A Knoxville Catholic. I have Belfry by 14-21 Belfry 35 LC 21-14.

Lex Cath has the offensive prowess to make this a game. Quite simply, this boils down to one question. Can Lex Cath keep Belfrys offense off the field?
11-28-2015, 05:25 PM
After seeing belfry last night, I don't think anyone stops them this year. That offensive line is just too big, quick, and strong. If lex catch tries to play keep away they will get beat even worse. As long as belfry holds onto the football they'll dominate. I haven't watched lex cath but the general consensus is that they're weak up front, and have great athletes at the skill positions. Belfry will match their skill positions and dominate the los.

I don't think nobody can beat Belfry this year except maybe a few 6A schools. :Cheerlead Go Belfry

It will be a real dark and gloomy day when THE IRON CURTAIN OF PIKE COUNTY engulfs and smothers the Knights in all aspects of the game. The Knights have some athletes but the RED ARMY is a juggernaut that will not be stopped by anyone. Pirates roll on to a third straight state title. The next question will be who was better pikeville of the late 80s or The RED ARMY of the new millennium? Which dynasty was more dominant THE IRON CURTAIN or MAROON MADNESS?
RED ARMY- 35
Knights- 21
RED ARMY- 35
Knights- 21

LexCath has the athletes and will put some points on the scoreboard. Belfry will run all over the knights though and win this one by a couple touchdowns.

Lexington Cath. keeps finding ways to win against a gauntlet of competition in the west. LC has the athletes to put points on the board, but just like Corbin if they have trouble stopping the run, this could be a very tall task for the knights. Just watched some highlights of LC on preps, they do look athletic but from what I've seen Belfry has played several teams on there schedule just as athletic if not more than what LC has to offer. Belfry's size may give LC some major issues. The ground and pound will be very hard for LC to stop, they don't have very much size on the d-line and Belfry will kill you if the o-line can get a good surge. Playing on sunday will also give Haywood a couple extra days to prepare for LC and the spread offense.
