Football finals fun

Here is an interesting idea I just had. I don't know if it's been done before. If so, sorry, not trying to steal anyone's idea. I thought for a moment about a good way to get everyone involved. So, how about this?

Let's try this as a challenge, I won't score it but you will be able to look back and figure who faired best on your own.

1). Which game will be the most lopsided in score?

2). Which game will be the closest?

3). Which game will be the biggest upset?

1. Male
2. Pikeville vs Beechwood
3. Johnson Central

Male will have a running clock before half. Will be the most lopsided score unless they call the dogs off after the 1st qtr.

Question for bgr posters. If you was a head coach would you run up the score in the state championship game if possible?

If I was a senior I would want to play all 4 quarters no matter what, just because it's my final game.

If my team was that good and I was a senior I would also want the younger guys who practice everyday and get beat on in every practice to make us that good, to be able to play in the championship game. That way they feel they are really part of the team, because they are. That's just me. I wouldn't want to take that glory from them.

No, once there is a comfortable margin and the game is in hand it's time to let the younger players in so they can get some in game experience. Plus, they get the awesome feeling of getting to play in the championship game and win a title. Life experiences are part of the quality of life. Can you imagine the excitement!?!

By the time you get to state tournament level, I wouldn't worry so much about lopsided scoring. I would; however, play everybody including the water boy at the state level!!

No. Once the game is in hand, I'm even a proponent of using your timeouts to get players in if possible. The bench is what helps you get there too. They're the ones who are cheering the loudest for their teammates during games, at practices every day slugging away for a chance to play, going through all the off season conditioning, etc for their shot. They deserve a moment in the sun because they're the boys of fall too. I understand seniors/starters wanting to play every minute, but once it's decided, they need to show respect to those who've waited their turn and say "Now let us cheer for you. Thank you".

If I were a senior and we had a comfortable lead, I would want the underclassmen to get some playing time so they could say they also played in a state championship game. If it was possible though near the last couple minutes I'd let my seniors back on the field if they were taken off so they can play at the final whistle.

Pretty cool thread myson.

1. 6A
2. This one is extremely tough. We have the potential to have 5 games go down to the wire, which also makes number 3 tough as well.

Ill go

2. 2A
3. 3A

Many people disagree with me on this, and have said so on the site before, but I don't believe running up the score is a "classless" thing to do. Only in sports is winning by as much as you can considered classless. Should a race car drive slow down to let somebody get closer to him before winning, same with horse racing? How about sports like volleyball?

Theres a whole record book out there just waiting to be broken. Those who get records broke on them shouldn't take it badly. They shouldn't even get mad. Its just a games and records are made to be broken. Otherwise, the KHSAA wouldn't keep a record book.
