Actually, as strange as it would sound I'm not surprised by that. A Republican has never won Washington D.C. nor have they come close. I think Ronald Reagan did the best of any Republican in that area - picking up only 14% of the vote. I believe Romney and McCain carried around 7%. I don't think any Republican has picked up double digits there since George H.W. Bush in 1988. D.C. is THAT liberal of an area.

How many staffers and politicians actually live in DC proper? My impression was that it was almost nothing bit minorities.
