Yes, these are all Kentucky based companies. Who knows what the name will.... but it does look like the name 'Commonwealth Stadium' as we know it is over.

UK Athletics and JMI have made the official announcement

It will be called Kroger Field.
The new official title will replace "C.M. Newton Field" and will be changed to "C.M. Newton Grounds at Kroger Field"

People are making this out to be such a huge deal and mad about the name change. To me, I could care less what the stadium is called and more about how well the team performs inside of it. I'm there to watch football games be played, not talk about the name of the stadium I'm at.

This name change is all about money and I'm all about football so I could care less.

UK got the money up front a few seasons ago from JMI when they bought the rights to the UK media coverage.

So UK isn't getting anymore money from this as of now. They may get a few extra dollars when the contract comes up for renewal.

Yea I just read that on KSR actually. This all seems kind of confusing, seems like the only immediate change is 6047309490 new jokes about self-checkout kiosks at the concession stands now. JMI and Kroger signed a 12 year/ 1.85 million dollar lease, which I assume is for the naming and broadcast rights. How much does the University stand to collect from this in the future? Will it be at the end of the 12 year contract?

Commonwealth Stadium just had a nice ring to it. Kroger Stadium at CM Newton grounds or what ever the heck is just does not flow. Plus Kentucky football has not been great or even average for a number of years, so the jokes that it will bring may not be worth the money from a fans standpoint.
