Devils 2007 backfield

Feature back- Tyler Jones- -6"0"-210 pounds
wing back- Drew Abrams- 6'0"-185 pounds
full back- Jonathon Cornwell- 6'1"-205
Q-back- AJ Cordle-5'9"-155

After weight lifting so far these weights have grown much bigger. Along with size comes strength. Jones , Abrams and Will Rice-(sophomore this year) all won there weight divisions in wieight lifting at Raceland recently. Cordle has also grown with the others. AJ has also continues to be the speedster as he he is known as the FLASH......
These boys are reported to be dedicated in making themselves the best that they can.
Spring football is around the corner, and yes it will be nice to talk about football during a football season even if it is just for a week.

Cornwell played noseguard last year. Torn acl. Is he really going to play FB?

A gaurd at Russell is just almost like a Fullback in any other offense. The gaurds in the wing-T mostly pull and lead on sweeps. It takes somebody with some speed and athleticism.

Weight lifting is going very well. Tyler Jones is really impressive so I hear. He's going to be very tough to bring down next year.

Word is that Cornwell will be moved to FB, True.... DONT know, but heard it this past week. He will be a solid addition.

The faster guys have to watch about how much muscle they build up because muscle is heavier than fat and if they bulk up to much it'll cut down on their short distance dash as well long runs. How many of these guys are Jr's and Sr's?

Jones will be a senior
Cornwell will be a senior
Cordle will be a junior
Abrams will be a junior
Bailey will be a junior
Hopper will be a senior

The scary part is the Freshman that will be sophomores are VERY talented and I expect to see some of them play if not start this coming year. Most of them saw time on the varsity field this year. Some of them even scored TD's this past year....
We will miss Kasey, Beekman, Lewis for sure but the size of the backs next year along with the speed will be impressive.

Ran into some of the boys yesterday, they are very happy about how everyone has came out to lift this year. They seem to think that the backfield will be very big, fast- not lightning fast but fast, and very difficult to bring down, They seem to think the rule this year will be punishing people who want to tackle them. Oh yea,,,, Cornwell is getting a look at full back along with Hopper, Hopper has the experience and will be difficult to move out but Cornwell has APPARENTLY not missed a day lfting since the injury at Ashland..... This is just the talk from the boys.

sounds like the red devils will be ready to play come new season. they seem to be in good shape in the backfield, but what about the o-line, the backfield is nothing without the boys up-front blocking for them.

the running backs have the TATERS to run the ball, and the line has the MEAT..... Good ole country dining specialty. Our line will be bigger and stronger than last years.

If he is starting to get really serious then that is bad news for Russell's opponents.
