Tough one to call. Gotta go with Bell at home in a barn-burner.

Crazy style matchup, polar opposites. I respect Hilton greatly so that's worth at least a 2 or 3 TD difference. Not sure if Bell gained any athletes from last year or not. But I didn't see any reason they couldn't have ran power, better than they did, other than the simple fact of coaching. I'm picking Casey as I do believe it will be who has the slightly better defense, and I believe that is coach Cross and the Rebels. It'll be hard to stop Hilton from having his kids score, and he'll have them ultra motivated. Stonebraker will do the same on his end. Really solid matchup between top middle (4th to 8th), top 10 teams.

Casey will score more than 14 points.
I'm gonna go Casey 35 Bell 21. That's my safe pick, biased pick. My gut tells me Casey's defense and one of the best MLB's in 3A will allow fewer than 3 TD scores.

Bobcats will be too much on Log Mountain.

The "Dud Effect" ensures a win on Log Mountain!

Bell gave up 43 to McCreary County. Bell will play better this week, but it won't be enough. Casey wins 42-21

My mind, no better coach (some equal), to both coaches in this game, Hilton, and Stonebraker. In my mind, Casey is a better team than last year. Lost some BIG TIME players, one on the U of L roster, fighting to make the team, 2 at Lindsey Wilson, and another at Center, already playing. DJ White playing as a freshman for Eastern Ky, defensive end. Anyways...with losing those guys (we lost DJ 2 years prior), Casey seems to be a more solid team, somehow, than before. Maybe just 2 years in Stoney's system. Biggest improvement is their defense. AJ Glenn, man, I hope colleges are looking at this kid. He's like a lot of your kids, all our kids here in this forum, came from nothing, a mixed race kid in a very white town (and our town has been better for it), to be a leader. Having said that, Log Mountain is hard to win. I totally get it. Just glad we are no longer feeling (as fans), we are going to play Bell and get beat by whatever they want to beat us by. That won't happen, ever again. We are going to start throwing (this next year), about 30 seventh graders into middle school year in and out, good ball players with at least 5 to 8 years of experience (counting kindergarten). This has been a concerted effort by many folks. It only makes 3A better as well, makes Bell better, makes Corbin better (by not just having to schedule out of district tough games vs Mayfield, Tennessee teams, etc..). It's a long time coming for us. It's why I can empathize with the Jackson counties, and even McCreary Centrals, of Kentucky high-school football. I think the whole state is becoming more of a football state.

Why did they stop playing Lee County?

That is not what I meant. They can still play a tough schedule, still add the Mayfields, etc.. and have a few solid games in district to go with it. I'm sure Corbin appreciated a semi tough district championship game against Casey last year, instead of not improving at all, hosting Belfry the next week. It lead to them playing a great first half against Belfry that next week, they were still sharp from the previous game, IMO.

Casey easy. They are where Bell wants to be. 2 more years and it will be a very competitive district....but Corbin will probably be 4A then.
