The Western Hills football team was solid in all phases of the game Friday night at home in a 50-20 win over Washington County.
âWe did a good job in every area, and Iâm proud of our guys tonight,â Wolverine coach Don Miller said. âOffense, defense and special teams all performed well.â
WHHS, now 5-1, wasted no time getting on the scoreboard when JâLen Youngblood ran in from 4 yards out on the fifth play of the game. Thomas Fricker connected on the point-after.
Five minutes later, the Commanders were deep in their own territory, but quarterback John Floyd hit Daniel DeWitt with a scoring pass play that covered 92 yards. Benjamin Romeroâs PAT tied the game.
âThey called a good play on the play action corner route,â Miller said. âIt was just one of those things, but I was confident in what we were doing on the field. We did very well after that.â
Following DeWittâs score, Western Hills reeled off 43 straight points, including 29 in the second quarter.
Most of the second half was played with a running clock.
Junior star Wandale Robinson finished the game with 234 yards rushing including touchdown runs of 34, 1, 40 and 87 yards. He also threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Carlos Gonzalez that paved the way for WHHS to score 22 points in the final three minutes of the first half.
