Lips of an Angel...
#1
Has anyone heard both versions of "Lips of an Angel"? Hinder has the Top 40 hit, Jack Ingram has the country hit...Which do you like best?

:puking:

That song makes me gag, it has been WAY overplayed. But i guess if I had to pick one version it would be Hinder.

The Hinder version defintally... the other version makes me sick.... rock songs should STAY rock... I personally don't think someone should be allowed to come out with the same exact song as someone else previously did. They get paid to make NEW music and stuff...not copy someone else.

What about "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails, performed by Johnny Cash that won several awards posthumously for Cash?

I personally like Hinder's version better and agree, the song has been KILLED, but that's what Top 40 radio does...

I don't listen to them so I have never heard of the song.

Jack Ingram destroyed lips of an angel, it is one of the worst remakes I have ever heard.

Hinders version is alot better.

Both versions are good. Alot of rock songs would sound good as a country song as would alot of country songs sound good as rock songs. And if you knew anything about the situation, Jack Ingram didn't "copy" the song off of Hinder. They played at a bar in Texas together and they were singin eachothers songs and after Ingram played "Lips of an Angel" Hinder told him he could cut it on his new album cause it sounded great. They are big buddies.

I like the Hinder version, but if I am in the country mood then I will listen to the Ingram version.

Well I am sorry that I haven't went that far in depth with it. I rarely get the chance to even listen to music much less know anything that goes on behind the scenes.

I like Hinder's version ALOT better.

Ingram destroyed the song. If Hinder thought his version was awesome, then they wont last long in music. Apparently they must be tone deaf or something, Ingram sounds awful and even changed some of the lyrics around. He should stick to country music. Same thing happened when Mark Wills covered the song by Brian McKnight a few years ago, It was awful as well. Then a little longer before that, Mark Chestnutt covered Don't Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith, another awful remake. When will country singers learn to stick to their own music.

Yeah I like Hinders version alot better.

LOL, I only know that cause that's what Ingram said on CMT when they were talkin to him as a guest on the Top 20 countdown...

Do you not like country music or somethin. The Mark Wills version of "Nobody Knows It But me" wasn't bad at all. The remake of "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" was awful, I agree with ya on that. As for Ingram soundin awful, you're crazy, he has a great voice.
#17
I just hate the song in general.
#18
I think Jack Ingram ruined the song.
#19
I never said the man couldnt sing, he just sounded awful on that song. To correct you on one thing, the song that Mark Wills remade was "One"by Brian McKnight, Kevin Sharp remade "Nobody Knows It But Me". I do like country music, but I think country music artists should stick to country music.

Can you define country music by what you hear on the radio or buy on CD's these days?

Brooks and Dunn did a really good cover of Missing You (an old 80s rock song), and Allison Kraus and John Waite does another great cover.....and no matter what, Ill always like Dolly's "Ill always love you" better than Whitney Houston's version.... but as far as this thread is concerned, although I like the Hinder version better, I do like Jack Ingrams spin on it, but thats my personal opinion. I bet Shooter Jennings or Gary Allan would do a dynamite job singing that song though...

Shooter would rock it for sure...Gary Allan's got that tough edge as well. Good stuff Tides.

i completely agree.. But i am completely sick of this song.. and what's worse is the video.. The guy from hinder is trying to hard to be like steven tyler. and the country version makes me want to puke.
I'm in love with Tawnya.. hehe..

Tom is not my friend....

if you have any questions send me a p.m.

Yeah country music really isnt country anymore. Too many people crossing over and trying other things. Country music was the best in the 70's and 80's. I will agree though that Brooks and Dunn did a good job with the John Waite song, its way better than Alison Kraus and the originators version. He does his part good as he always has but I dont think Alison was all that great. The way I see it though, music is alot like movies these days, nothing original and doing all these remakes of originals.

I second this. Completely. If I HAD to pick a version I would pick Hinder but this song has been way overplayed for way too long.

#27
I like both versions of the song. I just don't see how Ingram could come out with it so soon.

Yeah I agree with you, both Shooter and Gary Allan would make it an awesome song.

I like the Hinder version better..

I believe Jack Ingram wrote the song.
