The Offensive Mountain Player Of The Year?
#1
I know this is another hypothetical question. I don't think this thread is against Bluegrass Rivals's policy. If you don't like to take part in hypothetical questions, that is certainly your right, but some of us do. I find these topics fun to read and debate. Keep in mind we are not all going to agree and just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean you or they are right or wrong because they were many great offensive players from the mountains this year.

If you were given the task to select an Offensive MVP Of The Mountains or Offensive Mountain Player Of The Year, who would you choose? Let's all try to be nice in doing so.

I think Corbin's Cameron Sizemore should definitely be a candidate.
#3
While making your nominations, please don't speak negatively of any other student athlete!!

For example, saying the most offensive person in the mountains is pjdoug, is not acceptable!!

taveon hunter from belfry averaged 16 ypc and gashed every really good team he faced for 100+

This is a No brainer::
#5 from Belfry is the best player in the mountains hands down!
I watched him play several games over the past 3 years and is the heart and soul of that team.

Who is #5?

All-Stater Derek Wellman.

For sure, then. Thanks.

Very debatable question. Cam Sizemore definitely in the mix.

No Belfry fan here but I stand by what I said thanksgiving weekend. Wellman was worth 4tds In the Belfry/Central game.

Him and the dive play have been the catalyst for Belfry the past few years. Without Wellman running the dive, the Hunter kid is less effective. Not saying he isn't a great player too. Just pointing out that key #1 to beating Belfry was stopping Wellman and the dive.

Belfry's Derek Wellman without question was the POY in the mountains.

What if he isn't even the best running back on his own team?

If you're referring to Taveon Hunter.....he would have been my #2 choice. Maybe my #1 choice if he could have gotten more touches this past season. All the kid did was set the KHSAA for yards per carry at almost 17 yrds per.

IMO.....he was one of the most electric offensive players in the history of the school.

That makes him the better player.

Better player? I'm not sure about. Different player? Absolutely

Their skill sets are miles apart. Love them both. They're both gonna be missed by the Belfry faithful. And they both have left indelible marks on Belfry Football History. I'll never forget Hunter completely sucking all the air out of the city of Corbin last year. Nor will I forget Wellman's Herculean effort against Central in the Championship game.

I thought it was player of the year and not heart and soul for 3 years .

Chase Estep has to to be in this conversation, in my humble opinion he was definitely the most important player on the Redounds team the past two years, without him they are a totally different team.... Just my opinion....
#18
This Colonel will mention Alec Poore at Williamsburg Smile

The running back at Southwestern had a really good senior season—second team all state in the Lex. H-L.

Wellman should get O and D Mountain POY IMO.

I think he should be considered for coach of the year too.
