A lot closer than I was expecting. Congrats, Pikeville.

Prestonsburg had oppurtunities to take this one, just couldn't convert. They watched to many strike 3's. Hughes threw a great game, he started off a little rocky, but I think he only allowed 1 hit the last 5 innings and at one time had 4 or 5 strikeouts in a row. Rodebaugh hit the ball well with a homer in the 1st. Prestonsburg returns all starters next year.

Pikeville didn't play very well in this one, but a win is a win and thats all that matters.

Hughes kept AC in check in the District Finals only giving up 2 runs or something, and obviously pitched a fine game tonight. Rodebaugh will be one of the region's top players next year, IMO. He swings a solid bat and is a fine pitcher.

Pikeville didn't use any of their top 3 pitchers and it almost cost them.

I dont know how you can say that. Pikeville only got one infield hit after the 2nd inning. It had nothing to do with Luke Huffman. They were 3 up and 3 down inning after inning.

Huffman pitched a good game. I was still surprised Pikeville didn't use one of their top 3, especially the last two innings, and more especially when Prestonsburg was threatening in the last inning. But Ward is good too. It worked out, they won and have their top 3 available...no complaints.
