Just more food places for us all to get fat by..lol.
#4
I could go for Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday's...Better yet, TGIFriday's!!! Sonic is good in moderation and gets old quick (except for the sweets) - JMO.
#5
i heard Sonic,Outback,Red lobster, and Olive Garden would be great.
#6
Even if they do put them in there isn't going to be anybody to work them. Half of Pikeville has now hiring signs up.

That is one of the most ridiculous wastes of land I have ever seen. Turn that part into another retail store (Best Buy) or something that could have more of an economic impact than just a car wash.

A Best Buy would be great, and if not that, Circuit City.

Thats a Japanese steak house I beleive....They are one in Charleston, WV....They cook on the grill right in front of you where you are sitting.
#13
I would LOVE TO SEE OLIVE GARDEN and TGI FRIDAYS!!!!!
#14
I hope they put an O'Charleys steakhouse in at Pikeville. As far as department stores go I'd love to see a Best Buy and a Value City up there.

Yeah I love that place...a million times better than any steakhouse around here...
#16
I wouldn't care to see an Outback or a Fridays.
#17
Yea I whould want a TGI Fridays.
#18
I have heard that steak and shake is considering puttin one in but they are just waiting to see if they could get workers... But i haven't heard anything on anything else but Sonic... but id love any of those mentioned.
#19
I'd dont see them putting them in. Sonic maybe but there was rumors before of Red Lobster being put in but Pikeville doesnt have a big enough populaton to need it. Plus there would be no workers...I mean get real...plus you would NEVER be able to get a seat to eat. Applebee's is ALWAYS packed so I'd hate to see how packed a GOOD restaurant would be.

You just said they Pikeville does not have the population to support a good resaurant when you put that people are always backed out the door at applebees. That indicates to me that there is a need for another restaurant over in that area to offset the amount of people at the applebees.

Very true statement, the only reason so many people are there is because it's the only dinning restaurant in that area, people go to wal-mart and lowes and staples; then they want a good place to eat, another good restaurant in that area would even out the customers dinning at each place and make them both less crowded.

I don't see a Steak & Shake it really needs a lot of volumne 24 hrs a day.

Scotty DOES Know...

One thing about the tourism industry - you have to have somewhere to eat if you are going to be effective in tourism and the Expo Center is helping to bring chain restaurants to Pikeville.
#25
They'd have my business for about 10 of them, lol..i LOVE Steak & Shake!!

Man if an Olive Garden comes to Pikeville I'll never have any money. My Girl loves that place. I might as well sale my Car....lol

I personally prefer Golden Coral but that hasn't been mentioned...Pikeville is growing quick. 10 years from now it'll be one of the Larger cities in the state.

Very true statement, sky is the limit for Pikeville.

I don't see that happening. The population has been steadily decreasing in Pike County and a few restaurants won't change that or the drug and unemployment problems in the area.

I don't mean to sound so negative but like I said before these places would be hard pressed to find workers. That is the main problem with why the Steak and Shake hasn't been put in now. The guy who wants to put it in knows he won't have workers.

Pikeville just needs a few tweaks to allow for more economic improvement. Have you all seen the information about Pikeville possibly getting an updated airport? With that one project, so many things can open up to Pikeville. One way to influence the economy may be to build some kind of infrastructure with industry, get a plant, factory, bigger companies or something to being development around where the commerical airport will be. Another, could be developing on down the road towards Belfry. With the opening of the last section of the 4 lane road to Belfry, Pikeville will have another potenial spot for future growth.

However, things can go wrong and things can fall through but I don't want to be a pessimist.

Anways, back to the restaurant topic. I never thought of a steak and shake but the more I think about it the more I would like to see one be put in.
