Lausanne Collegiate @ Mayfield 9-23-19
#1
What’s your thoughts. MHS has not lost a home game since OT against McCracken 2015. Lausanne is a private school that won TN title in 2016 & 2017 before dropping in semifinals last year. My take is MHS by at least 10 points.
#2
That’s a typo on the date. The game is 9-23-19.

I think Mayfield will win by 7 to 10 points.Hope our D is stout i figure they have a lot of speed.

Mayfield by 14

I know nothing about the Memphis team. What I do know is last year I was not the biggest Stinson fan but in the two scrimmages he was on the money and put a lot of zip on the ball. Our running game if the backs get past the first wave forget about it. O line looks pretty good and the receivers are top notch. Now to defense geez they have a lot of improving to do. Going to have to fix the run D and and the D back play and we are going to be hard to contend with. Cards by 14 at home.

Lots of banter going on , in the tenn. forum .. they think we ky boys cant play ball an have already started letting the excuses fly.. this will be a very fun game . Laussane graduated 6-7 d1 lineman last year and the best running back in the state of Tennessee in eric gray.. their qb is young an talented an their new running back is as well.. they are a Memphis team an have a huge population to pull from being one of the main football schools in the area so reloading should not be a problem.. i believe they may offer a good game but i dont see it being close come 4qt.. they are mainly a run team an still have a couple studded lineman one dt 6'4" 300lbs they say they normally are very big an fast.. i see our offense being way to much of a test for them..

Can someone even tell me how this game made the schedule... its nice to see two powers like this playing an hope it continues..

I know Mayfield played Calloway in its 1st scrimmage. Who did they play in there 2nd and how'd it turn out?
#9
CALPREPS has the Cards by 10. I realize that really means next to nothing but still I like it

@nd scrimmage Mayfield beat Union county 49 to 7.
#11
I'll take my favorite team from the West! Mayfield by 14.

I was told by one of parents of one of the players that we won 63-7 but, the JV scored 4 touchdowns themselves.

 to getting this scheduled! The matchup should be wonderful and it's a great way to start the season for both teams.
Most recent scrimmage for MF: the varsity offense looked unstoppable. Varsity defense looked good but needs to fill gaps. Biggest surprise for me as a Cards fan was the freshman RB. Broke his first varsity play from scrimmage and ran in a 55 yard TD. He looked great on other plays as well. We ran back a kickoff for TD and almost all passes were complete. The JV scored 4 times.
Lausanne should not have any "gaps" due to the recruiting they have. It will be a tough match-up for both.

I just want to point out that the Mayfield posters mentioning recruiting aren't engaging in the usual whining accusations. 3 divisions of shools in Tennessee have state approved open recruiting.
#16
Not only do they have the states best recruiter on payroll they have co-OP schools on board to i hear.. meaning they allow kids from other schools to come play ball for them that A; have no football program or B; cant afford the $25,000 a year tuition.. according to the tenn forum( lots of chatter on there about this game) this should be a top game in the state this week..!! Go big Red

Yes, thanks for pointing this out. No sour grapes at all! Our coaches knew what they were getting into when they signed for this game. Glad they did!

The big differences here are A, TN does it right and they do not allow the private’s to play public’s in playoffs and B) they admit they recruit and therefore hold a distinct advantage over schools that don’t.

This game came about because Union City is chicken----. They decided they had had enough and left Mayfield to send out feelers for a week one game.
#20
2 more nights until we hang another shocker on TN football.
#21
Is the game 7 or 7:30? Last year against Union City I got there @ 6:45 only to find out it didn't start til 7:30. Those concrete seats are hard on an old man.

7:00

I want in on the bandwagon making my prediction :Cheerlead

This Lausanne team will be a tough one. They'll have speed to match Mayfield's and more size across the trenches. Mayfield has the experience advantage and you have to think the home field will be worth a little something, at least. Stinson and Company will have to find those seams in the defense and make some big plays to help open up the run game. If the Lynx can contain the run game of the Cards with a 3 or 4 man front and put 7 or 8 back in coverage, they could make it tough. Mayfield's defense needs to come to play and avoid giving up the big play. Should be a great challenge for both teams and benefit them down the road.

MHS will score 35 or more. They certainly won’t give up that much. So, once again, I will be smiling come 9:30-10:00PM.

I hope you're right, but, PT scored 28 in 1 half alone last year, U.City scored a lot, CAL scored in the 30s.. So, all I'm saying is the defense needs to come to play, because this team is considerably better than a Tilghman or Union City and on par with CAL.. If they give up the big run plays like they did last year, this teams D is good enough to keep them in the game. Mayfield is capable of putting up 50 a game, but, they don't play teams like this very often either. CAL held them to in the 20's and really, it took outstanding execution on a couple of big plays to score that many. They stopped us cold on several drives.. It's a lot tougher to look and execute like world beaters against quality opposition and they'll be facing that this week. I think the Cardinals are up to the challenge, but, losing this game isn't out of the equation either..
